No matter how hard I tried, I could not think of anything. All I could manage to remember is bright lights then bam! Nothing.

I ruffled my hair with my hands, nothing was helping, I couldn't just sit and do nothing. I finally managed to leave the hospital, Grace picked me up and took to me to my totaled car. That was absolutely devastating to look at, it was a head-on collision so I was lucky to come out with only a few cuts and bruises. I definitely would be sore for a while though.

Rick hadn't talked to me in a while and I hadn't heard from Jason. The whole situation was extremely frustrating and I felt like I couldn't do anything to fix it.

Bored out of my mind, I tried to call Grace... However, I remembered she was hanging with her dad. I couldn't intrude on that. So I tried for Rick.

The phone rung for a few moments, but then went to voicemail. "Hi, Rick, it's Tristan, call me back when you can... Hope everything is okay, you haven't been returning my calls lately." I hung up and tried for the next person. Jason.

The phone rung for a little while, I was waiting and then the line went through, "Hello?" I said. I didn't get a reply though, I could hear shuffling, but that was it. Nothing else. So I hung up, "whatever" I muttered.

I thought for a few moments, maybe I should stop by Rick's house. See if everything is okay. I got my keys and was about to head out when I remember I didn't have a working vehicle. I sighed and threw my keys on the table and sat back down to watch TV.

I felt, so, bored. My ribcage was hurting from the seatbelt bruise I gained from the car crash, and the more I focused on it, the worst it hurt. Eventually I fell asleep on my couch, there was nothing for me to do anyways.

When I woke up, it was bright outside, like the sun had just risen. I yawned and stretched. I suppose I slept all throughout the night. Getting up I walked to my room to pick out some clean clothes, I went into the shower and washed my hair and body. I finished up with my routine then got dressed in some casual clothes.

I ate breakfast and scrolled through my social media, until a text from Grace appeared on my phone.

'Hey, feeling any better?'

'Yeah, thanks for asking. Have you heard from Jason lately?'

'No, I wonder where he is... Have you heard from Rick lately?'

'No... Do you think you could borrow your dad's car and take me to see him?'

'Sure! Are you sure you're ready to get back into a car?'

'Yeah, I'm fine.'

'Alright, be there shortly.'

I grabbed my purse, and wallet and waited for Grace to pick me up. I knew it was her when I heard the horn of her father's car. I got into her car and gave her the address for Rick's house.

We got out of the car and I knocked onto the door of Rick's house. After a little while I could hear footsteps draw near the door and a familiar face appear.

"Tristan?" Rick asked.

"Um, yeah. Hi." I smiled at him

Agitatedly he asked, "What are you doing here?"

I frowned slightly, "I'm here cause I wanted to check and make sure everything was alright. We haven't talked in a while so –"

"Well I'm alright" he cut me off.

Grace cleared her throat, "I have to use the restroom, may I come in?"

"Sure, make it quick though, I'm busy." He said sternly showing her to the bathroom, but not letting me inside.

"So where have you been lately?" I asked.

"Nowhere," He responded shortly.

I was growing slightly agitated, "Nowhere must be very fun,"

"Yep." He said glaring at me. "I'm not trying to be harsh, I'm just very busy."

I nodded slightly. Moments passed in silence as I waited for Grace. The silence was broken by a piercing scream.

"Grace?" I asked loudly, pushing pass a frantic Rick. "Grace where are you?"

"Over here!" She said, she sounded like she was sobbing.

I beat Rick to the room where Grace was and saw her consoling a beaten Jason. "W-what?" I asked breathlessly.

"I-I heard whimpering and I followed the noise... He is really badly hurt," Grace's eyes were watering as she glanced at the injured Jason.

"What the heck? Rick!" I turned around, and was face to face with someone. It was physically Rick, but the glare in his eyes made a chill run down my spine.

"Get out." He spat in my face.

"C'mon Grace, grab Jason.." I said to her.

"Not so fast," Rick stopped me. "You're not taking him, I'm not done with him."

"He hasn't done anything wrong!" I yelled.

"I'm calling the cops," Grace sobbed as she took out her phone and began dialing.

"NO!" Rick yelled pulling something out of his belt.

It was too fast for me to see, but the sound only struck me with realization. I turned my head slowly, terrified of what I was going to see. Grace, my best friend, sinking to the floor. Bleeding, a gun.

"no-no-no." I muttered wobbling over to her, kneeling beside her as her face paled. "RICK! Call the cops please! Don't let her die." I cried begging him.

He only smirked and closed the door.

"RICK! PLEASE!" I yelled, and yelled. I prayed someone would hear me. But they didn't. I tried to apply pressure to Grace's wound, but it wouldn't stop bleeding.

Grace smiled, "It's okay, I'll be okay."

"No, please Grace." I sobbed into her shoulder.

She coughed blood up and I had to stop myself from screaming.

"It really hurts." She said still smiling.

"I know," I said softly, holding her hand tightly. Then my eyes widened, at an object lying on the floor. "Your phone, he left it." I said to myself. I let Grace go momentarily and grabbed the phone, I dialed 911 and waited and prayed, holding my best friend, Grace tightly. She would not leave me.
