I cocked the gun, and put my finger on the trigger. I looked at Hayley, and she shook her head.
"Why do you want me to kill them?" I ask looking at the gun.
"Because I know you would. Family or not."
"You're absolutely right... but that doesn't mean I want to kill them."
"Either you kill them and or I will. I'll make it slow... just for you." He put his hands on my waist, and I closed my eyes containing my anger.
"Get your hands off me." I say through my teeth, and he laughed moving his hands up. "Stop or I'll shoot you too."
"Too? Does that mean you're gonna shoot them?" I listened and heard a floorboard creak in the hallway. I closed my eyes and listened even closer to hear slow breathing, and a gun in someone's hand.
"What's your reason?"
"In order to be a killer you have to have no distractions. No days off. Just one focus."
"Eventually it'll happen right?"
"They could say one wrong thing when you're in just the right mood. It's either now..." he moved to my ear, and whispered. "Or then."
"Now... it has to be now." I looked at them, and they began to cry. "I'm sorry... but it has to happen." I shot my mother, and she went limp. I cocked the gun, and pointed it at Hayley. She shook her head, and screamed having it be muffled by the cloth. "I'm sorry Hayley." I pulled the trigger closing my eyes, and then dropped the gun. I opened my eyes, and looked at my mother and Hayley.
"Now you're like your father." The man said and I turned and punched him not being able to get a good look at him. He stumbled back a little, and then looked at me.
"What's your name?" I ask no longer upset, but angry.
"My name is Joseph." He said with a smile, and I glared at him. "I have four kids... Joey, Jane, Parker and Annabelle. My brother is David. The man you killed." I glared at him, and he smiled.
"What kind of father would have his children stay with such a horrible man?"
"They live with on occasion. When I need information though they live with David. Oh and thank you by the way."
"For what?"
"Killing the man who kept getting in my way."
"You wanted him to die?"
"Please a man like that? A man with no life. He was always so angry, and always getting in the way of things. He needed to go. One way or another he was gonna go. You did it for me."
"No. I did for Joey. Not you."
"Actually Joey was under my control. So you did do it for me. Whether you like it or not."
"Get out if my house."
"Why would I wanna do that?" I looked behind me to see James standing in the doorway. I looked back at Joseph, and he smiled.
"Because I said so. I did not invite you here."
"No. You didn't. Thats not my problem."
"How so?"
"Because you left your door unlocked. I simply thought it was an abandoned hotel..." he smiled pulled the gun out of his holster and turned around pointing it at James. "It's not nice to eavesdrop."
"Don't kill him." I practically beg, and Joseph looks at me. "Please."
"Okay." He moved the gun slightly, and shot James in the leg. James yelled in pain, and fell to the floor. "Is that better?" Joseph asks and I glare at him.
