The bell rang and I took my stuff and walked to my locker, to take all the books we had homework in for tomorrow. I was getting kind of nervous as I walked out in the parking lot, why was I even nervous? I’ve been out with Mason a lot of times before, I don’t see the big deal with it. I look down on my feet, I was wearing low white converse, which I matched with a white short dress and a jeans vest. I guess that’s good enough for a date, even though Mason have seen me in sweat pants and a jersey. Why do you even care what you are wearing? It’s Mason we are talking about, you should run while you can. God, I hate that inner voice, don’t you think I know that? I was just so mad seeing Aiden with Amy and I wasn’t thinking straight. Besides how bad can it be? I stepped into the parking lot and searched for Mason with my eyes, and I did that for a minute but I couldn’t find him. Strange, maybe he chickened out. I smiled at that thought, I would love to see Mason chicken out!
”Looking for me” Mason whispered in my ear. The sound of his voice made me jump, I really need to stop being so easily frightened.
“No, I was looking for my dignity. I think I lost it, when I agreed on going out with you” I said and crossed my arms over my chest. Mason started to smirk, and put his arm around my shoulders and led me to his car.
“I like this new version of you” He said and took out the key to his car from his pocket.
“New me? You mean this sarcastic and mean-ish girl, who won’t let anyone step on her?” I asked and he nodded his head as his smirk grew bigger.
“You made me this, after what YOU did I had to grow some balls and not let anyone tell me what to do” I shrugged and opened the passenger door and climbed into his car. Mason stepped into the car and turned on the engine.
“I’m sorry for what I did to you, but at the same time I’m not” He said and started to drive out of the parking lot, leaving school behind.
“What is that supposed to mean?” I asked and looked at him, with my head on one side.
“That I wish I didn’t hurt you, but at the same time I like this new independent and strong girl you’ve become” I could feel the blood rush to my cheeks, and I quickly turned away my face from Mason. The last thing I wanted was for him to see that he could still make me blush.
“Thanks, I guess” I replied as my phone vibrated. I unlocked it and saw a text from Steph.
“Good look on your date, text me all the details tonight!! ;) xx” It said, I rolled my eyes at Steph eagerness to this “date”, just like Claire had earlier today. I decided to send Steph a quick reply before turning my phone off, I was pretty sure that Aiden would try to contact me and I wasn’t ready to talk to him just yet.
“I promise :) xx” I pressed send, and then pushed the turn off button and put it in my bag.
“So, where are you taking me?” I asked to break the silence between us.
“Just some place I found two days ago” He shrugged and watched the road carefully. I nodded, and a question popped up in my head and I didn’t think it through, I just let it out.
“Mason, why did you want me to see the fight between Aiden and Brandon? You know that I don’t like fights” I asked and turned my face to see his reaction.
“I remember that, and I’m sorry that you had to see them fight, but I thought you should see the real Aiden” He said and gave me an regrettable glance. I started to laugh at his reply, how can he state that when he doesn’t even know Aiden.
“You don’t know him” I spoke quietly and looked down nervously on my hands.
“But you do?” He asked and raised an eyebrow.
