Xian's Point of View
"Hi, Julia! Nandiyan ba si Kim?", tanong ko sa dati kong secretary na secretary na ngayon ni Kim.
"Yes, sir.", tugon naman niya agad.
"May ka-meeting ba siya?", dagdag ko.
"Wala po, sir.", sagot niya.
"Sige. Papasok lang kami.", I replied.
"Wait lang, sir. Tawagan ko lang po si Ma'am Kim para ma-inform po siya.", akmang tatawagan na ni Julia si Kim sa telepono, pero pinigilan ko siya.
"Julia, wag na. We're just going out to lunch with Robert.", sabi ko.
"Ay, okay, sir. Pero sino po si Robert?", tanong niya sa akin sabay turo sa lalaki sa likod ko.
"Boyfriend yata ni Kim na galing pa sa Europe.", sabi ko. Pero the word "boyfriend" was killing me. It must mean something.
"Wow!", narinig kong sabi ni Julia.
"So, pwede na ba kaming pumasok?", tanong ko ulit.
"Sige po, sir.", tugon niya.
With that, I knocked on Kim's door to let her know someone was coming in.
"Come in!", narinig kong sigaw ni Kim.
So I opened the door. She was still looking at her desk, writing things down on her planner. Mukhang busy na busy.
"Hey, Kim.", I said.
"Oh. Xian. What are you doing here? And Robs?!", tumayo siya nung nakita niya si Robert.
"Hey, Kim!", Robi went to her and hugged her.
"It's good to see you!", he said to her. At very awkward to para sa akin. But then again, bakit nga ba ako nandito? Why am I inviting Kim to eat lunch out with me if she's already dating someone else? She's already taken. I realized, I shouldn't be here.
So I turned around, but Kim stopped me. She pulled my arm and I had to look back.
"Xian, this is Robi, one of my bestfriends there in Europe.", sabi niya sa akin. I looked at his face, it looks like the word "bestriend" killed him.
"Robi, this is Xian, one of my friends since college.", introduce naman ni Kim. The word "friend" killed me. A bestfriend is greater than a friend. And it sucks to suck at being a friend.
"We actually met earlier.", tugon ko.
"Oh, that's great then. So, not to sound rude or anything, but what are you doing here?", she asked me. She was expecting Robi here, but she wasn't expecting me. Bawas nanaman sa pogi points ko.
"Actually, I was going to invite you to eat lunch with me, but I guess you had other plans.", I said. I am really good at acting pitiful. And I know how Kim responds to those who are pitied. She gives in to them.
"Oh, well. Robi and I were actually going out to eat. You could come with us if you want.", she said to me invitingly. Tiningnan ko ang mukha ni Robert, it looks like he wasn't liking what he just heard. Well, I'm not the rude type of guy, but I don't slack off just so Kim could date this guy out at lunch. So I gave her a grin.
"If that's okay with him.", I said. Ofcourse, I am trying to contain this evil smile inside. I mean, this guy looked helpless. Deep down, he doesn't really want me to join them. But because Kim said so, he has to go with it.
