Meredith's head rested against my stomach as I looked over some paperwork the Dark Lord had given me, now I'm family I get more work, less dangerous but it's still more work. I looked down at Mer and saw her watching me, her lower lip caught between her teeth as she thought.
“If you carry on thinking so hard you'll get wrinkles.” I stated as she focused back on my eyes and laughed.
“Such a dick.” she sighed turning around and kissing my chest. “What's going to happen to us?”
“We're going to live and hide our child for as long as possible, maybe move to Australia.” I shrugged running a hand through out hair and frowning. “Australia sounds good right now though.”
“We can't move to Australia.” she pouted, “It's too hot down their.”
“Hmm, we are too English to live anywhere else.” I sighed making her laugh again and grin up at me. “Marry me.”
“What?” she blushed as she looked up at me, I hadn't thought about it until now, but it made sense.
“Marry me, we're going to have a baby, Meredith. I just want to have you too.” I grinned as I pulled her onto my lap. “I've not got you a ring but I'll get you one, I'll get you anything you want.”
“Yes.” she smiled laughing “If that was your proposal then yes.”
She threw her arms around my neck and kissed me passionately, her lips melding against mine as we laughed and I captured her lip with my teeth, she emitted a squeak as it tickled and she pulled away.
“You're going to be Mrs Black.” I stated and her eyes lit up.
“Only if I can be your Mrs Black.” she laughed and I had to kiss her again, she was just too bloody perfect for her own good. “Now about this ring?”
“Yes?” I laughed raising an eyebrow at her as she smirked.
“How about a necklace instead? I don't think Cousin Tom would appreciate a wedding.”
I frowned nodding, she had a good point. If he didn't want us to have children there was no chance in hell he'd want us married, he was being nice letting her stay with me. But I suppose he still had use of her house else she'd have been removed by now.
“A necklace?” I asked and she nodded. “Whatever you want Mer.”
I pulled Meredith into my arms, it was now or never. Mother had gone out to visit on of her old friends so we were free to disappear as we pleased.
“I can't believe we're actually doing this.” she whispered, her face alight with mischief. “It's romantic and naughty.”
“Anything for you.” I laughed kissing her temple as we walked across the road and towards the village centre. “Gretna Green.”
“I'll meet you at the church in an hour then?” she asked and I nodded stooping down to kiss her softly before departing.
“I can't wait.” I said quietly as she started to walk away from me, she span back around and gave me one last grin before I slipped into a shop.

I stood in the middle of the large room, dresses line the walls in every shade of white, cream, ivory and even a pink one. Some shone as the sunlight hit the silk, while lace cast intricate shadows on others.
“Hello, my name's Elaine, how can I help?” the woman appeared from the back room, her blonde hair tied back and a huge bright smile upon her face.
“I'm looking for a dress, that's not too obviously a wedding dress but is.” I said laughing at myself as I spoke.
“Ah, I think we may have just the one actually, it's short elegant and almost pink.” she smiled, “If you don't mind pink that is.”
“I'll have to see, but it may just be perfect.” I smiled walking away from the elegant ball gowns I’d longed to wear while growing up.
“Is it just you and your fiancé here today?” she asked and I nodded blushing in embarrassment. “Oh don't worry yourself, usually is just the couple sometimes a trusted friend. It's our job to make you feel comfortable.”
I gave her a grin in thanks as we walked into the back room she'd so recently come from, instead of the floor sweeping gowns I’d been enchanted by in the other room, none of these touched the floor. Some looked more like ballet tutu's rather than wedding dresses, but this is what was needed.
She pulled out three dresses, all of them in a different colour would have made just an average dress, but with the tone and sheen they were most definitely wedding dresses in my eyes. “That one may be a bit revealing.” I said pointing to the skin tight tailoring of the first.
“Oh, well congratulations.” she grinned, “How far along?”
My mouth dropped, she's the only person apart from Reg and I that know about the baby, and well I couldn't help myself. “Two months, I hope it's a boy and looks like my partner.”
“I can imagine he wants a little girl that looks like you?” she laughed and I grinned.
“Oh no, as long as it looks like him he doesn't care.” I stated causing her to snort out her laughter. “God knows why I love him, his ego's the size of the country.”
“I can hear in your voice that you love him, now let's see about making his jaw drop shall we?” she grinned steepling her fingers.
My breathe left my lungs as I looked up into the grey eyes of my fiancé, he didn't smile openly at me but I could see the love burning in his eyes, it was scorching right through and searing my heart. I beamed up at him as I entered the small chapel, this may not be what I thought I’d always wanted, but I couldn't ask for anything more.
I didn't hear the words the Father spoke, I only came too when Reg started to speak. His smooth deep voice wrapped around me as I grinned.
“I Meredith Catherine Aubrey take thee, Regulus Articus Black to be my wedded husband.” My lips moved for me, it was an outer body experience.
I could feel everything, I knew my mother was watching us smiling, everyone who wished us well was looking down upon us cheering us on.
“Till death do us part.” I whispered slipping the ring onto his finger.
“You are now man and wife.” the Father said, and before he could say another word I was wrapped tightly in his arms kissing him back with as much passion and fever as I could muster.
“My wife.” he growled down at me as I laughed.
“You're so stuck with me now.” I smiled and he grinned spinning me in his arms.
Our wedding day, was the last true day of joy, no holds barred.
Oh that grin, I’ll never forget the last time I saw it. Not even when Ebony was born did that grin reach such a perfect scale of pure happiness, we were too terrified of what could happen to our precious child.
I wish I had the power to change things, I wish I had the power to save him, but I knew I couldn't. All I could do was make it better when he was at home, with us.
