The Day We Became Human

Part 5-Training...with Jude.

The next morning I woke up snuggling with Noah; mom still wasn't back.
I decided I wouldn't go on the search for her until Noah was awake he could come with me. I was not and I repeat not reliving the mishaps from last night. With that thought many things came to mind like what happened to the guy that was being chased and all of those biters.

Noah had waken up about thirty minutes ago I had showerd and gotten dressed so I helped him pick out his clothes for that day and do the same.

He wanted to see Mom so I decided it was the right time to go searching. "Ready buddy. " I said scruffing up his hair and placing his toy T-rex in his hand. That instantly cheered him up.
As we made our way out we were stopped in our tracks.

A girl in a gray uniform wore a huge grin."Lyra and Noah Adams?". The girl asked "yes, that's right." I said with uncertainty."your mother is in the meeting room she said to take you for breakfast then take you through what life here is going to be like I mean for you Lyra not the little one." She said smiling even wider than she did before.

"Oh okay is there any chance we will be able to see her"."No I'm sorry she is caught up with some pretty hefty stuff y'know with all these crazy zombies ". She exclaimed 'with a pretty hefty laugh' she was a bit full on but it was nice to see someone who's face didn't look like a slapped ass. "Hi I'm Melanie Jones no i mean Hadley had a little name change." She stated stretching out her arm to shake my hand. What was with all this hand shaking. Just Courtesy I guess."Nice to meet you how old are you you look young to be in the military...?" She giggled "Oh no I'm just fourteen I came here about six months ago it was a shelter then. Our parents well they passed away when i was twelve they were in a car crash and I have a brother he was eighteen he wasn't fit to take on the tasks of being a legal guardian so we passed from home to home, shelter to shelter and now we are here living with steve he took us in about a year ago and we all moved down here after he was moved here to manage this new military base his names steve hadly. what happend a few days ago happend and now we've all been asigned jobs and we all are obligated to attend training from three pm to six. Me and my older brother started to learn when steve first took us in but we're starting to help alot more. " She didn't look sad but I just took in a lot of information."Here is your uniform after you're changed I will take you guys down for breakfast and we can tour around the base. I will wait outside." smiling once again she stepped out asome of closed the door behind her.

I pulled the curtain closed and changed thinking about all the information I was force fed and that I choked.

Now in my uniform I stood in front of a mirror "you look funny !" Noah whaled whilst laughing "Okay okay mister. I figured." I said smiling at him through the mirror I tilted my head trying to find an angle in which I looked good in it but nothing...nada.
He just stared at me and said "You're beautiful Ly". Teagan. Thoughts of him flooded my brain; soon tear's stung my eyes as I tried to blink them back. He gave me a smile "Even if your wearing funny clothes." he giggled.

"Ly where Tea?" he questioned and my face remained in its hidden sad expression.

Teagan was like an older brother to him Noah always called him Tea..."ermm...he has gone somewhere far away from here". I gave him a tight lipped smile. "Will he ever come back?".That question shot shock waves of reality down my spine. The fact that he would never come back into our lives how we'd never hear his voice see his face feel the kiss he'd often give me in the morning on the top of my head. This was reality. Brutal and painful.
"No noah he won't be back." I looked down peeling my chipped nail polish off of my finger nails "why?" He said his smile now becoming nonexistent and his eyebrows farrowing tear's lacing his eyeballs ready to spill.

"He ermm he had to go to a better place than here." The tear's were now falling. I walked over to him and held him "No don't cry it's okay we will see him again when we go to where he is." Lies I mean if you believed strongly in god it wouldn't be but..."and we will play dinosaurs and trampoline wars and even. who can eat the most ice cream in one go." More lies."really?"he sniffed hope glinting in his eyes placed there by none other than me."yeah." I smiled a fake smile and he smiled back."now let's go get some food i don't know about you but I'm starving." I tickled him and a gasp of giggles were released."stop Ly stop!"he screamed I laughed and picked him up scanning my ID and leaving the room.
