Jude's POV

"Melanie behind you 12 o'clock."they were becoming way to much the sky had gone from its light blue to a dark grey and the clouds began to tear up and weep.

"Lyra there are to many we have to go, we cant take them all." She was adamant about taking them all maybe she wanted to prove she could do it sometimes I don't know with her.

"Lyra as your commander I command you to abort." I say more firmly now but she carries on.

"No Jude I can do this you guys go." she screams as she slaughters two at a time. "Go!". she screams repeats the word firmer this time. I cant leave her but if I don't  Melanie is in even more danger and I cant risk that. Torn between the two I tell Melanie to go to Tyler and stay there seeing how things can easily turn south she goes with no trouble(thankfully) and I stay back to fight with Lyra.

"You better be right about this." I yell and she smiles in response .

Slicing through them in their hundred's more join catatonics and biters in one huge zombie blood bath.

"Commander Jude come in..." the radio crackles  the static noise of the others voices came through unclear at first.

"Kinda hard when your fighting a hoard of both biters and cationic don't you think? were surrounded find safety we can handle them just get to a safe place. over---".

The buzz of the radio sounded again "Yes, sir good luck sir. Over" The flesh craving monsters add to make an even bigger zombie hoard forget blood bath blood bath was an understatement.

***********************

"I've got it!" lyra shouts .As I slump to my knees and she takes out the last five biters we made sure to get the catatonics out of the way they always found a way to get you some how even though their constant heavy breathing gave them away along with the repugnant smell of their constantly rotting skin were way worse than the biters. I'm not quite sure how she's still going but she is; to be honest she looks as though she could go for hours more, whereas I who is currently slumped over on the barked covered floor of the forest with his head between his knees is struggling to catch a puff of air.

"Arggh!" she grunts using the edge of her arrow to finish of the last of the zombies and pulling it out of its soft skull making a squelching sound. "You finished?" I joke in a some what serious tone she grins at me pride smothering her face.

"Yeah I think so." she states with the same smile she has when she completes a task during training.

"Well we should probably get--" I stop for the second time today as Melanie's screams shift the trees. Then an eerie silence fills the air and all I can hear are the trees; the  creaking of the trees that are shifting back into place i begin to run before my body can register my legs are even moving "Melanie!!!!" I'm racing through the forest again skipping over the stupid damn rocks in my way I hear lyra close behind me. i should have never stayed with lyra. Rueful thoughts fill my mind and my body feels heavy and numb slowing me down as i reach the area where trees have decided not to grow and the cave sits behind its moss of green curtain. i can just make out melanie splayed out like a picnic blancket on the ground. the rain has began to pour now as i get closer and closer to her  i make out another added figure crawling its way on top of her helpless body the monster chews at the flesh on her legs ."No!!! over here."

"Jude." her voice sounds raspy as she whimpers helplessly like shes struggling to gather air. The monster that was once Tyler  stares up at me but before it can move an arrow shoots threw its head i dont pause to see where it came from i just keep running until i reach her knowing that that arrow belonged to lyra.
