The next morning, Mark didn't get on the bus. His pack does but he doesn't. I frown. Surely he couldn't be that upset over his friend dying. Our jobs as alphas is to lead our pack, not sit and grieve over a friend in another pack.

I sigh, eavesdropping a little in on Eden's and Phil's conversation.

"...I don't know Phil." I heard Eden whisper quietly. "He wouldn't tell me what was wrong. He just came back to the house last night and went straight to his room. This morning he didn't wake up at all."

"Well is he dead?" Phil whisper back.

"No, Mark was still breathing and everything, but no matter how much I tried, he just wouldn't open his eyes."

"Maybe he's tired?"

"Possibly."  I didn't have the heart to listen anymore. Mark was alive, but he wasn't responding to anyone, not even his pack mates? What does that mean? I feel my heart pound faster. Did something happen to him after I left their territory?

Around lunchtime, Mark did show up. And boy did he not look too good.

Alika and I were chatting quietly at our table while the rest of our pack was getting their lunch when he walks through the double doors.

His usually neat combed back red hair was a huge mess. It stuck up all over making the red stand out more against the black. Under his brown eyes were bags, like he either lacks sleep or he has been worrying way too much. His clothes were no better. Instead of the usual T-shirt. And jeans it was a huge, baggy red hoodie with black sweat pants. All-in-all, he was a train wreck walking through the cafeteria. Everyone was shocked, including his own pack as they noticed him when he sat down.

"Huh," Felix says smirking. "Looks like the faggot finally got a taste of his own medicine." Something in my snaps.

"Felix Kjellberg!" His blue eyes widen as I use his last name along with his first. Everyone else shrinks back in shock. Sure I get mad, but I've never felt this pissed off in my life. "I don't care how much you hate somebody, you will never call them a faggot. That goes for everyone else in my fucking pack. Don't like it? There's the door." It fell silent at my table. A tsking sounds behind me. I turn my head around and instantly stand up. Dark blue eyes meet my own. It was the school whore, commonly known as Shelby Crooks.

"Well, well, if someone is being a little feisty." She says, popping a lollipop in her mouth.  Her eyes flashing red. I growl rises in my throat, as Alika stands up.

"I think a little slut needs to learn how to close her legs. Better yet, how about if I break them for you?" She growls as Shelby fakes hurt.

"Oh I'm so scared of a deputy like you." She rolls her eyes. That seems to piss Alika off. Before she could do anything to I grabbed her wrist.

"Don't," I mutter. She rolls her eyes continued to glare at Shelby. Shelby just smiles, flipping her hair.

"Can't wait to talk things over at dinner, my future husband." My heart stops as she smiles wider as she sees my reaction. My whole pack sits forward in shock.

"What do you mean by future husband?" I barely whispered out, horrified. Her smile gets even wider.

"Don't you know that your parents are starting to arrange our wedding with my parents?"
