Chapter 12: I Hate it Here

I've been walking around the hospital alone, I left Ethan and Grayson in my room I told them I needed to be alone for a second. I walked down to the vending machine to grab a vitamin water Dragon Fruit is my favorite, I was about to type in the code for the drink when a female voice behind me caught me off guard. "Oh hey! You're Mackenzie right?" She asked. "Yea...you are?" I asked politely. "I'm Liz I'm a fan of the Dolan twins, so how's your recovery going?" She asked with her curly red hair slowly drifting in front of her face. "A fan? What are they like singers or something?" I asked. "Wow oh my gosh your funny! No wonder Grayson likes you!" She said laughing. "No I'm being serious, I actually have no memory...what are they?" I asked typing in the code and grabbing my drink. "Oh I'm sorry." She said embarrassed. "It's fine." I sighed. "I need to get going." She said. "Oh ok, well it was nice meeting you." I said waving bye. "You too." I said confused.
I saw Grayson walking down the hall ways towards me, I started getting a head ache. "Grayson my head hurts." I said holding my head, "come here bab-" he said but stopped himself. "What?" I asked confused holding my head. "What I didn't say anything, come on let's get you back to bed." Grayson said walking me back to my room.

I laid in bed and watched Ghost Adventures, Grayson and Ethan sat on each side of the bed in chairs. "Hey little lady!" The nurse said smiling walking into the room. "When am I getting out of here? I wanna actually be outside and live." I said. "Today. All you got to do is read these papers, sign, and then turn them into the front desk." She said with a smile. "What! Are you serious!" I shouted with excitement. "Oh my gosh!" Grayson and Ethan cheered. I jumped out of bed and hugged Grayson and Ethan, I took the papers out of the nurse's hand and started to read them. "Wait I need to get ready, I need to do my hair, my makeup. I need to look good since it's my first time going out into public that I can remember." I said. "I remember how you do you makeup so I can help." Grayson said. "And I know how to do your hair." Ethan said. "Oh Hun I have something for you." The nurse said, "I'll be right back." She said leaving to go grab the thing.

Grayson was doing my makeup and I have to admit, he looked pretty good when he was concentrated. His brown eyes were so big and beautiful- oh my god Mackenzie snap out of it. "What you thinking about?" He asked while doing my blush. "Your eyes are pretty." I laughed making him smile. "Thanks." He chuckled as he went to do my mascara, "stop moving." He laughed. "I can't help it!" I laughed, then he ran his thumb over my bottom lip by accident. It felt...different.

"Ethan you almost cooked my ear!" I said laughing at him trying to straighten my hair. "Sssshhhh I got this princess!" He laughed. Then the nurse walked in with a computer, it had a note on it. I got up and walked to it, I read the note.

Dear Mackenzie,

I'm sorry I can't be there, I'm going through some stuff right now that I can't explain. You're going to go live back with the boys for awhile till I can get stuff right, I love you so much baby girl. This is a present from me too you since I wasn't with you for your birthday, I'm still truly sorry about everything.

I set the note down and then looked at the laptop, it had a white glass apple on the top, it was made out of metal. It was super modern and clean looking, I set the note down and sighed. "She doesn't even care. I don't even know what my mom looks like or her voice but she decides to do this..." I said. "Mackenzie she just was caught up in-" Grayson said. "I'm her daughter, she should be here." I snapped. "Whatever I don't need her. I have you two." I said.

We walked to the front desk, Grayson walked on my right and Ethan on my left. "Are you checking out?" An older women asked. "Yes, Mackenzie" I said. "I know who you are you've been the top gossip here for awhile." She said. "What?" I asked confused. "Yea the girl that almost died twic-" she said but then Grayson cut her off. "Yea so is she ok to lead now?" He asked tapping his finger on the desk. "Oh yea, sign here Hun." She said handing me a clipboard with papers. "And your mom already signed the papers-" she said. "Hey do you have my address? Like where I live?" I asked looking at the paper of information on me and my family. "Hun does it look like I can just give you what you want? If I got what I wanted my breasts would be where they should be." She said looking at me over the top of her glasses, I turned my back towards her and looked at the boys. Then I got an idea. I spun around and searched the office, "oh my gosh are those your grandkids?" I asked in a fake cute voice pointing to a picture behind her. "Oh yea aren't they just cute?" She asked turning around and looking at the picture, I reached under the glass and grabbed the paper with all my information. And grabbed both of the boys hands and ran out the door. I stopped once I saw the sun, my eyes had to adjust it hurt. Then I did and slow spin and took it all in, I'm alive.
