Chapter 18

First Word

*At the hospital"

Diana, Nari and I, Michael's siblings, and his parents were all in the waiting room while the doctors ran tests on Michael.

The entire time LaToya is staring daggers at me.

"LaToya, why are you looking at me like that?", I ask calmly without even looking her way.

"I just know that this is your fault", she says with an attitude.

"What exactly is it that you have against me? You've been so rude toward me since we met", I respond.

"No, I was not. I didn't care about you, period, until that strange ex-boyfriend of yours started calling my family with threats", she responds.

"Oh my gosh, get over it. That was nearly a year ago", I say.

"He threatened my family", she says.

"And I said I was sorry for that, OK? What else did you want me to do? He didn't hurt anyone and never was going to in the first place. You know what, just lay off. Right now, our only concern should be Michael", I respond.

As if on cue, the doctor walks into the waiting room.

"So, I have good news. Mr. Jackson is going to be just fine", he says.

We all let out a sigh of relief.

"However, I do suggest that he checks into rehab just to be sure that nothing like this happens ever again", he adds.

"Is he awake?", I ask.

"Yes, he is but only 3 visitors at a time", he informs.

We all nod.

*Michael's P.O.V*

As I'm laying there, the door suddenly opens and I see my mother and Joseph.

"Oh, Michael. I'm so glad you're okay. You had me worried sick", mother says.

"What happened, Michael? Why did you do this?", Joseph asks.

I sigh. "I really don't want to discuss that right now. Just know that this won't happen again."

"Alright... I'm gonna let your siblings see you now", mother says.

She kisses my forehead and they leave the room.

*45 minutes later*

All of my siblings came and left, except Janet who refuses to move until she gets answers.

That girl is stubborn just like Joseph.

"Mike, you have to tell me what happened", she says.

"If I tell you, do not tell anyone else", I respond.

"I won't", she says.

I explain to her how Aaliyah caught me cheating and how I neglected Nari which led up to my current situation.

Janet was just shaking her head.

"This probably isn't the best time to say this, but, I'm disappointed in you Mike. I'm also disappointed in Aaliyah because of how she handled the situation. You two need to talk", she says.

Janet finally leaves the room and Aaliyah soon walks in holding Nari. She sits Nari down in a chair and walks over to me.

I grab her hand. 

"I'm sorry, Michael. I was wrong for the things that I said to you. My anger got the best of me and trust me, I don't believe that you are a bad father", she says as tears fall from her eyes.
