A forest surrounded the area and the moonlight poured through the tree leaves. Several stars twinkled in the night sky. Valadhiel stood on a stone platform ten feet above ground, mist preventing her from being able to see anything. Suddenly a beam of light shone and an elf with golden wavy hair descended and landed next to her. Recognizing who the elf was, Valadhiel bowed.
"Greetings, Valadhiel, Daughter of Dragons." The elf greeted as she bowed.
"It is a pleasure to see you again, Lady of Light." Valadhiel replied. "What brings you to my dreams?"
"I must give you an important message. Long ago, when your father became evil, I sensed something wasn't right."
"Neither did I. My father wasn't always evil. In fact, he was the kindest dragon out there."
"Sauron had managed to poison his mind. How, I am still uncertain, though I believe he used an enchantment used to manipulate all of dragon kind. He may have used an object to help with the manipulation."
"Yes, he seems to have a knack for that." Valadhiel said. "If he was able to create a Ring of Power that poisons the mind, surely he could have used any other object for manipulation, especially since dragons are drawn to gold and precious jewels."
"Was there any certain object that was precious to him?"
"I believe there was a certain jewel he loved more than any other precious gem or metal. He kept it lodged between two of his scales: a ruby, I believe."
"Yes, Sauron could have easily used the gem to poison the Great Dragon's mind."
Valadhiel growled and clenched her fists. "So my father's sudden change in behavior was Sauron's doing?"
Galadriel nodded. "Yes, though much like a spell it can be broken. You said that before he was slain by Bard the Bowman, you sensed a sudden change in him, did you not?"
"Indeed I did."
"I believe that love broke the spell Sauron had cast on him. You tried to stop him because you loved him and I believe that was what broke his spell: though seconds too late."
Valadhiel looked down at her bare feet and her wings drooped. A tear trickled down her left cheek and she quickly brushed it away. "Love overcomes all things. It sounds very much like a fairy tale."
Galadriel smiled. "Yes, but it is all very real." She then took on a more serious expression. "You are about to go on a great journey with Frodo. Do not let the Ring poison your mind. You, being a Dragon, may be at greater risk than any other. Even if you get separated from the Ring, be on your guard. Sauron can use any physical object to enchant you: perhaps even through his own words in dreams. Do not let him poison your mind, or all will be lost."
Valadhiel stood there, taking in what the Lady of Lorien had just said. She nodded slowly. "I will do my best. But, if I am taken by this 'curse', how can it be broken?"
A beam of light shone on Galadriel and she began to ascend. "As you said, love overcomes all things." She called down to Valadhiel before she and the beam of light disappeared completely.
Soon, the mist and stone Vala was standing on faded and everything turned black.
"Valadhiel." A gentle, feminine voice said. "It is time to wake up."
