'This can't be happening' I say over in my head. My gps took me out in the middle of nowhere and now I have no idea where to go. I was driving from Kentucky my hometown all the way to Phoenix. I wouldn't have done this if I didn't have some unfinished business to attend. And that was to confess to my best friend Devin Booker that I love him. Way more than just friends.

I know that it's a BIG risk but I'm taking it. I've come to realize that if I don't do something about it then I'll never know how he feels. So what better way than to surprise him and be like "Yo surprise boy I love you!" Actually still working on what I'm going to say.

I've made it to Phoenix so I've gotten this far. You'd think it would be easy by then but no it's not. The gps told me to make one turn and now it has no idea where it's at. So you could imagine the frustration behind that. I wanted to surprise him but now I'm thinking I'm going to have to call him just so I can get there.

A thought came to my head and pull over on the side of the road. It was dark and the roads were vacant besides mine. You could say it was creepy.

I grab my phone and scroll through my contacts. T.Ulis. Surely to goodness he knows where to go around here by now. At least to Devin's house.

I tap his name and put my phone on speaker then head back on to the road. It rings a few times and then it picks up.

"Hello?" I hear his voice and let a sigh of relief out.

"T. I can't really explain at the moment but do you by any chance know how to get to Devin's house?" My words were quick and demanding.

"Where are you?" He asks he sounds a little tired.

"Well I know I'm in Phoenix!" I'll give him that much.

He lets a airy laugh out and it makes me smile. "Okay tell me what you see."

"Um there's a road sign that says Phoenix 17."

"Oh your not lost I promise. Just follow that road and it'll take you straight into the city. The gps has a bad habit of getting lost out in that area. You should be fine after that." He explains to me.

"Thanks so much Tyler!" I say.

"No problem!"

We say our goodbyes and hang up. My stomach started to get filled up with nerves. I didn't want to get my hopes up for nothing so I was preparing for the worst.

I finally arrive at Devin's place. I've been sitting in the car rehearsing what I'm going to say. So far nothing is sounding good. It looks as if I'll have to wing it.

My phone buzzes beside me and I pick it up.

Devin
I know you're up to something. I have a spare key under the flower pot next to the door. Let yourself in.

Tyler must have gave me away. That's all it took for me to get out of the car and and walk up to his front door. I took in a deep breath, letting it out. I repeat the process about 30 times before actually grabbing the spare key.

It's now or never.

I get the key and with shaky hands I unlock the door. Quietly I step in and kick my shoes off.

"Devin!" I call out. There was no answer so I continue through the house. "Devin Booker!" I call out again. Still no answer, so I walk to his room and the door was standing open. I go in and I see him curled up fast asleep. His phone was still in his hand, he had on his Phoenix shorts along with a old hoodie. It brought a huge smile to my face and made me realize how much I missed him.
