Chapter 1

I could hear the rain and thunder from outside. It sounded horrible. Well, i was in the grocery store with my dad getting food and snacks for my birthday tomorrow. "Dad, dont forget the chips!" I yell across the store. "I wont!" He yells back. I ran to the bakery section to get a chocolate cake. I loved chocolate. Its pretty much my weekness. I grabbed it and ran to my dad. "Done. We got everything." I tell him. "Great." He says back.

My dad pays for the groceries and we leave outside. "Dang. Its really raining out here." He says. "Yeah. We gotta make a run for it." "Lets go." We run outside and head for the car. We place the groceries in the trunk as quickly as we can and get inside the car ourselves. "Rain is coming down really hard Valerie." "Yeah. It kinda is." I say while i look outside my window. My dad turns the car on and starts driving. When he heads to the street we usually take, he stops. "Oh no." He says. "What happened?" "The street is closed." I sit back. "We gotta take the express way if we wanna get home sooner." He tells me. "Lets go." I say.

We head to the express way, and try to drive through the rain. "Think we'll make it home soon?" I ask my dad. "Doubt it sweetie." Crap. I think to myself. Its been over an hour, we're still in the express way, and its still raining. Worst of all , its already night. "God. We're never getting out of here." i say. My dad laughs. "We will. Soon. I hope." He says. I laugh. I then start staring out the window. I look at the rain and see how hard its pouring down. I then notice something out in woods. "Hey dad," I start. "Pull over for a bit." He looks at me. "Are you crazy?" i look at him. "Please? Only for a bit." He takes a deep breathe. "I know im going to regret this."

He pulls over to the side of the road. "What?" he tells me. "Ill be back." I start to get out of the car. "What!? No. Valerie, get in the car now!" "Dad, i saw something. I swear. I just wanna check it out." He looks away and looks back at me. "Five minutes!" I smile and head into the woods. I didnt go in far. I looked around, and found nothing. Oh well, i think to myself. I turn around and start walking back. Then i notice something shiny. It was silver. I walk towards it. I kneel down to touch it. It was a chain. The kind of chains that are worn with pants. I pull it. But it wont come off. I pull it harder, but its attached to something. But i wasnt something. It was a someone. It was a body. Oh crap. I think to myself. A body. I turn the body around. I gasp. And my eyes are wide open. Ross Lynch , i whisper to myself.
