My sleep last night was all but desirable, I'm so used to sleeping on expensive name brand mattresses that I suppose the solid, uncomfortable mattresses at the farm house just aren't my thing.
"Okay, so we're here at this campus until next year, that's when we move over to senior campus, which is where Alexis is now." Jake explained as we walked into the school. To be honest I hadn't heard anything other than that sentence, but I'll live.
"Yeah, okay." I said.
"The teacher will give you your timetable in roll call."
"Cool."
"You didn't hear any of that, did you?" She asked irritatedly.
"No ma'am I did not."
"Screw this shit, this afternoon you and me are staying late to talk to the coach so you can get on some teams and actually enjoy the next two and a half years you have as a part of this school." She smiled, opening her locker. "Dad said they didn't assign you a locker, so you can have shit stink Simon's old locker." She said, banging the locker next to her's, making the door fly open. "The combination thingy's broken, so it just flys open when you hit it hard enough."
"Okay." I smiled.
"Ugh, here come the sluts." She groaned.
I turned around to see a group of girls wearing skirts, that weren't even part of the uniform because everyone including girls wear shorts, so you could see half of their arse. The sight made me want to puke.
"Well hello there new kid, what's your name?" The leader of the group asked.
"It's not the sluts next shag I can tell you that much." I said, making Jake burst into a fit of laughter.
"Already friends with little miss jock huh?" She asked, batting her eyelashes, completely ignoring my answer.
"The problem with that is?" I asked.
"Nothing. Nothing, just..." She hushed her voice. "She's a bit of a skank."
"And that's coming from you. You do know that to label someone else a skank, you kinda can't be one yourself. Now back off before I do something about it."
"And what would you do pretty boy?"
"I've got a three year old sister with a whole lot of attitude and all the Wynter girls in my corner. And my brothers, hatred between us or not." I said, cocking my eyebrow.
"Ugh!" She groaned before walking away.
I chuckled to myself and received a high five from Jake, who was recovering from her fit of laughter.
I pushed my bag into the rank odoured locker, before walking away with Jake, my arm draped over her shoulder.
"Oi! Wynters! Who's this loser?" Some random bloke asked, walking up to us.
"This very cool individual is West. West this is my cousin, Jack Wynters." Jake smiled.
"Oh, you're West Harrison! You're dad's a legend here!" Jack said shocked. "Sorry to hear about his death mate, it must suck nuts."
"Yeah, me and the siblings are coping though... Granted pretty shitily, but coping nonetheless." I chuckled.
"Yeah, if you call you and your brother beating the shit out of each other and arguing every five minutes 'coping'." Jake said, rolling her eyes.
"Oh! The kid with the crooked nose and bruised face in year nine must be your brother." Jack laughed. "Man, you did a number on him, aye, he looks like he was hit by a bus, while you're just standing here with a busted lip and a black eye."
"I'm not exactly proud about breaking my brothers nose." I chuckled.
"So you're from Sydney huh? That must be cool. I've never been there."
"It's okay I guess, the city life gets a bit overwhelming sometimes, but you get used to it eventually." I shrugged.
"Yeah and we'd still be there if it wasn't for you getting our parents killed!" Wyatt yelled across the hall.
"I didn't do shit and you know it Wyatt! Why can't you realise we need to stick together!?" I yelled back.
"Because. If it was up to me I wouldn't be anywhere near you. I hate you West Ethan Harrison." He gritted through his teeth.
"I hate you too Wyatt Edwin Harrison." I hissed.
He turned around and walked away, ending our glaring match.
"Can't you just feel the love radiating off of their relationship Jake?" Jack asked dreamily.
"Shut up Jack. It's not funny." She replied, placing her hand on my shoulder, trying to calm me down.
