.CHAPTER 1
* Kate's POV *
I was given a name Kate Winters. My parents were deceased when I was 10. I had no other relatives to take care of me. I didn't even have friends. So I was sent to live in an orphanage. Everyday I would sit by my window sills -waiting for someone to adopt me. I never played or talked to the other little kids there, they weren't even nice to me.
There would be new people coming in to take care of us every week. They were called care takers. Most of them that came in always tried to get me out of the window sills and try to get me to mix with the others. I never took their advice. Some of the nice ones would spend some time with me everyday to try to figure out my problem. They would always comment on how I looked. They always told me I was special, cause of my eyes, hair, and facial features. They also told me that I had an alluring charm that attracts them to me. I didn't know what's so special about me. I had light hazel eyes and had red brunette hair that was layered and wavy.
A few weeks had past since my coming to the orphanage. I'd had not progressed at all. The window sills were my hangout, I had no friends, and no one chose me for adoption. I literally gave up hope now. No hope was found for me, or for any other kids here. Who would wanna adopt us? The only kids who get adopted easily are the younger ones, no one wanted people like me. I was prepared to be neglected. I felt like a piece of trash, just waiting to be thrown out sooner or later.
My only, one and true friend is Ms. Robertson. She's the nicest and youngest care taker here. She's nice to everyone around here -especially to me. She would be my one and only person who I could tell my problems and sadness to, but she only came in once a week. I don't blame her or force her, cause I'm sure she's got other better things to do than to sit and listen to me chatter. I'm sure she's got plenty of dates to go to.
*****
A year has past now. All of us kids have lost all hope. We knew that no one would adopt us anymore. We're just waiting to be old enough, and be kicked out into the real world. When that time comes, I don't know what I'll do, or where will I go, or-or how do I survive? I had no money! I'm just gonna have to worry about that when the time comes. My routine would be the same everyday. My spot would be on the window sills. I've learnt a few things about living in this orphanage myself, first rule is to never sit at anyone else's spot -I learnt that the hard way. Secondly, never try the mystery meat on Wednesday. Thirdly, don't tell other kids of what you think about stuff, they'll just carry tales about you.
Today we were having another foster parents coming over. Ms. Robertson was on shift today, so she'll be preparing us for their visiting. The plans always the same, dress neatly, speak politely, keep your hair neat and face clean the whole time, and we've got to know what the foster parents like and dislike. I've managed to perform every tasks that was appointed, but non of them noticed me. Maybe it's because they think I'm too old? I'm just 11, and I'm already considered old? Actually, they've got a point there, people nowadays usually adopt kids under 5 years -I think it's because they find them more cheerful and cute.
The foster parents soon came at around 12 in the noon. I sneaked out of my room to get a first hand look at them. Both the man and women looked posh. They must be rich. The woman was wearing a nice plaid dress and flowed at the ends along with a pearl necklace to match. Her hair was short, curly and golden -that was the 19' centuries hottest styles. The man was wearing an expensive suit and had the shiniest shoes I've ever seen. He had his black hair combed back neatly and gelled -that was also in style back then.
Ms. Robertson greeted them as Mr & Mrs. Patisson. She then turned to our rooms and called for all of us to come out in an orderly line. The settings were eldest to youngest, in a straight line. I was standing merely in the middle, cause the eldest kid was 14, and the youngest was 4. All the elder kids like aged 15 to 18 weren't alined with us, they didn't always go for adoption, so they had their separate dorms apart from us.
In the end, they of course picked a cute little 4 year old girl with golden braided hair. I knew it wouldn't be me, so I didn't prepare at all this time. I knew they would pick her, cause she was so cute. Her golden braided hair always matched her little green eyes. Her floral dressed match her pale white skin. Her cute smile. She's prefect for them. Well, I wish her all the luck.
AN ; here's the first chapter. Poor Kate. Anyway, the next chapter will be when Kate turns 18, and she's kicked out of the orphanage. More exciting things are yet to come to this story... so keep reading my updates. I'll try to update as soon as I can. Oh and I'll try to filter my updates too :)
