I'm just going to go on to the Chapter.

Katie's POV

Walking back lunch in hand, Katie stopped and looked at the guy who had wrapped his arms around her  wolf. Since when did I start calling her mine? It's not like we've been together that long! Katie shook the thought away but when she looked up once again the same boy that was hanging on Kiera.

"Well, well, well if it isn't the mate to be." His voice deep and cold.

"Uh, do I know you?" She stepped back a bit not really sure what he was after. What do I do?!?! Do I scream for Kiera? No, that's not right, I can take care of myself! I'm a fucking Green belt in Karate!

"Doesn't matter if you know me or not blondie. My point is that you'll be sorry that you took Kiera from me!" A deep growl ripped through his throat as he grabbed her arm and dug he's fingernails into her skin.

"What do you mean I stole her from you? I don't even know you." Katie's stance had changed she was no longer the scared little girl but a strong, confident, young lady. His grip released a little and Katie gave a small sigh of relief.

"My where are my manners today? I am Ryan Edgard, next Beta of the Phantom pack." He bowed his head slightly.

"Phantom pack?!?! Y-you said P-phantom pack, and Beta together. Oh today is not my day!" Katie stumbled over her words.

"Yes and that means you'll see even more of me when you're introduced to the House." Ryan leaned in and whispered in her ear. "As a future pack member, I suggest that you watch yourself." Letting go of her arm Ryan stomped away. That was strange. Glad I got out of that alive! She continued to walk towards the table when Kiera lifted her nose toward the ceiling, What the hell? When her face came into view she was wearing the biggest grin on her face. I wonder what she's grinning about? And why is Maroon smiling so evilly? She pushed the thoughts aside for the moment.

"Your back!" Kiera gave a small laugh but then stopped. "Why do you smell like him?" Her smile vanished and was now staring down with unforgiving eyes.

"Who?" Katie wasn't quite sure who she was referring to.

"That venom, ass fed, moldwarp, son of a bitch!" Kiera shouted.

"Why on Earth do you know Shakespeare? But it might help if you speak English to the poor girl." Maroon placed her hand on Kiera's shoulder.

"Fine." Came the sharp retort. "Ryan Edgard the next Beta of the pack, unless I find a new family to take his place but that's against the Phantom Pack law." She rolled her eyes.

"Oooooooh, you mean that Ryan, yeah he kinda stopped me a minute ago. He said something about the house?" Katie raised an eyebrow.

"Aw great now he's spoiled another surprise for you. Oh well what are you going to do?" Kiera shrugged, "But anyway the house is a place where I and my family live but aside from that it's an open home to the family's in pack to stay if in trouble, or a hangout place for us older pack members to hang. I'll explain more after school. Maroon's been to the house a few times herself." Kiera sighed once more, she was not used to giving this much information to one person. "And to answer your question Maroon, it is because we went over Shakespeare's insults in class today it was rather entertaining."

"Why were you smiling evilly Maroon?" Katie asked the elbony, who looked up again from her devise.

"No reason, no reason at all." A small laughter follow which only proved she was indeed hiding something.

"Yeah huh and I believe that bullshit as much as I believe Ryan defeating me in a fight." Kiera's eyes had changed color. What the hell they've never done that before! Well other than the fight with Ms. Frost, but she was half wolf! What is going on? My eyes don't do that. At least I don't think they do. Yes, her eyes were definitely a deep emerald instead of her cheery sky blue.

"Uhh Kiera your eyes are a different color," Katie poked her forehead hoping her eyes would go back to normal.

"Yeah they do that," Her voice was different too. Like it was the voice of a child, an extremely, happy child.

"Are you sure you're okay?" Not quite believing that it was the same teenage girl.

"Yup!"

"How on Earth do you go back to normal?!?!" Katie moved her bangs out of her face and gave a semi death glare.

"Okay that's enough of that." Maroon smacked Kiera over the head with her book. The look in Kiera's eyes went back into protective and fades back to the sky blue she fell in love with.

"Thank you for that. I hate going into that mode." She turned to Katie, "I didn't freak you out too much, did I?" A shake of her head was enough to know that she was a little startled but became curious to why it happened.

"My eyes change color depending on what I'm feeling like just a minute ago my eyes were green am I wrong?"

"No you're right they were emerald green."

"Which is a wolf's way of indicating that they're happy and/or excited."

"Why do they change? I mean other than to show emotion."

"Well I'm not exactly sure as to why but my guess is that we wanted to be different like other animals. Kinda like how tigers have stripes, or leopards have spots. Hell! Even lions have manes. But the wolf we have nothing so our eye's change color. I've been told that since I was a pup." Kiera looked at the wall and then let her eyes wonder to the clock and it showed that the lunch period was over.

"That's a nice way to put it I guess." Katie put a finger to her chin.

"Anyway I'll see you two love birds after school. Meet ya at Kiera's bus!" Maroon got up and ran for the doors that lead to main hallway.

"Oh fuck, shit I'm going to be late for class!" Katie gathered her stuff and followed Maroon's path of exiting the lunch room.

"Silly girl." Kiera gathered her stuff and left for class.
