Syringe

There he stood, right under Penny's kitchen doorway. The same man that I locked in the cafe, or thought I locked in the cafe. 

His eyes roamed over my body as he took a step forward opening the doorway for the rest of his group to come through. He looked a bit annoyed, even though his anger diminished there was still displeasure on his face.

I didn't want to speak up on why he was here, mostly because I was in shock that he's standing right before me. The spell should have lasted more than 20 minutes, especially since I'm the one that cast it. Unless they had help breaking it.....

I diverted my attention to Navarro who was currently leaning against the wall watching Penny as she moved around the kitchen.  His eyes drifted to wherever she went, carefully watching her movement. Even though his body language looked unwelcoming and distant, he was entranced by the mere actions she did.

Was he the one who broke my spell? After all, he just said he was friends with Emerson, so he probably did. What I don't get is how fast he broke the spell, I've cast spells for him to break for him to train with, but he was never that quick of disarming them.  

The stiff silence hanging in the room was broken by someone just walking into the house

There were sounds of someone walking through the halls and Daniel walked in not too long after. 

"Daniel?" Kaiden's confusion was swiftly replaced by joy. He got up from his chair and met Daniel halfway embracing him in a hug.

"Long time no see," Daniel said  "It's been what? Seven years?" He let go of Kaiden and pushed him away at arm's length and looked him up and down.

"You look like crap" Kaiden laughed at Daniel's remark

"Well you look good, considering you were pummeled by an ogre," He remarked back

"Well, nothing a little time and hot nurse can do for a man" Daniel chuckled.

"Anyways where's this girlfriend of yours? You wouldn't stop talking about her for the whole time you were with us" Kaiden's face went scarlet red and froze in his spot.

Girlfriend?

I felt my stomach drop and my breath stopped midway. 

Who is she?

Kaiden began to shift his feet uncomfortably and avoided my stare. The tension in the air was unbearable.

The man I'm in love with.....has a girlfriend?

"Come on man, I've been in the shadows for 7 years! The least you could do is tell me her name" Daniel persisted on. 

I couldn't bear to hear it, the name of the girl that has Kaiden's heart, his Fated. I bowed my head to the ground, waiting for him to crush my heart, my breathing was already ragged and I felt like I was going to cry.

A lump was forming in my throat and my eyes were getting warm. Maybe if I had talked to him about my feelings earlier, would he be with me? I closed my eyes waiting for the waterworks to fall down my face.

I felt a pair of hands grab my own and I opened my eyes to see Kaiden standing in front of me making my heart soar, his eyes filled with tenderness and affection

"Her name is-"

"That's enough" suddenly Kaiden was pushed away from me and another body replaced where he was standing but I can only see their back. Although I can't see the person's face I knew exactly who it was.

"Alpha, I'm sorry" Peering to the side of Emerson's body, Daniel was slightly bowing his head to Emerson "I didn't know that who he was talking about was your Luna"
