Have you ever felt like you were floating?
Just drifting along with no real clue on what you're doing or where you're going
Well, that's how I felt. My body was in an abyss, a free-floating space that didn't tie me down but let me wander free.
As I floated around there was a muffled sound that echoed through the air, it wasn't very loud, it was almost like it was trying to be quiet, like a whisper.
I moved my body to where I thought the sound was coming from and the noise grew a little bit louder the closer I got. It didn't sound like anything at first but then the noise turned to words. Then the voices resonated into a soft rhythm
"Who's coming?" The voice sounded rich and deep,
"Her grandmother, she needs to lock it away again" whoever was talking had a gruff voice and I don't know how, but the voice sounded like it's aged.
"Again?" This person sounded confused, they probably thought what happened was the first time.
What are they talking about? Whose grandmother?
I want to know more about what's going on, although my physical body can't move, I can still concentrate to focus on them. The darkness that enveloped me didn't seem so comforting anymore and all I want to do right now is to know what's going on. That's when the panic settled in.
I don't want to be in this state anymore, I can't move my body and the worst thing is that I can't scream for help. Even though I can still feel their presence, it feels as if I was being dragged away from them. No matter how much I tried to fight it, it felt like I was being pulled back.
'Let me go' 'Let me go' despite my many attempts of shouting into the void I was still being taken away.
Reaching out my hand for the spot where the voices were coming from, no one was there to grab a hold of me. To take me to safety, no matter how loud I screamed my voice was just as silent as a pin dropping on the floor in a crowded room.
Kicking and throwing my body to fight against whatever was wrapped around me seemed like the only thing to do
"What's happening?!" The panic and alarm rang in the voice deep voice
"She's having a convulsion! Quick, hold her down" There was warmth pressed down on my arms and head.
Why are they trying to stop me from escaping?! Can't they see something menacing is dragging me away from them? The ropes or ties started to pull me away again deeper into the darkness and I continued to fight them.
Why don't they know I'm panicking? I want to get out of this, I want to get out of this darkness
The longer I fought the harder they held down my body.
The sudden warmth that was on my arms quickly vanished. I was pulled into the dark pit and was surrounded by the cold.
"Please, someone help" it sounded like a child "Take away the darkness" sniffles and the sound of water drops echoing throughout the space. Are they crying?
Every time I let out a breath you could see it from the cold temperature, the rise of goosebumps on my arms and the hair on the back of my neck suggested that something threatening was near me.
"Hello?" the sounds of someone crying was coming getting louder and louder "Please, don't let him come in here again" the child's cries and pleas made my heart tug. Even though I didn't know why they were so afraid I wanted to protect her.
