“I see you and cadence have made amends,” Ian said as he walked up behind me and wrapped his arms around my waist.
“Yeah I guess we have,” I said and took a bite out of the brownie I held.
“Well I’m glad,” he said and kissed my cheek.
“Do what did you and Dexter have to discuss?” I asked and turned to look at him. His eyes darkened and his body stiffened and I knew he didn’t want to tell me for some reason.
“It was nothing,” he said stiffly and I shook my head.
“Ian tell me.”
“No!” he snapped and I stared at him with shock clear on my face. He hadn’t snapped at me yet and I never expected him to. I shook my head and pulled out of his arms. Instantly he looked regretful but I wasn’t going to let him pull me back.
“You’re so keen on sharing your world with me but you can’t share this with me? Makes me wonder if you’re fully committed to having me here,” I sighed and spun on my heels to walk away.
“I’m doing it for your safety destiny!” he called after me.
“You can shove that whole protecting me up your ass because I can take care of myself,” I spat and walked towards the house. I slammed the door behind me and stomped upstairs. I wanted to be a part of Ian’s world but if he was going to be one of those guys that tried to protect me all the time our relationship was never going to work.
I walked into my room and instantly started pulling the hair pins out of my hair in anger. Ian is such a great guy and I never expected him to be the possessive kind but what he just said told me he was.
“Destiny?” Karley asked as she walked into the room but I didn’t answer her. “Destiny you’re over reacting.”
“Am I? I understand that he wants to protect me but if he wants me apart of his world then he has to let me in,” I snapped and Karley sighed and sat on the bed and watched me.
“He will tell you in time destiny. Maybe he’s also a little scared about all this? He never expected to have a human as a mate and he doesn’t want to chase you off. You have to remember destiny that him and Dexter are the highest of the high in the pack so they have a lot of responsibility,” she explained and I couldn’t help but sigh and sit down beside her.
“I guess I just want to be a part of his world so bad I did over react a little,” I sighed and she nodded but wrapped her arms around me.
“Go talk to him and maybe he will understand,” she said and I got to my feet and headed to the door without another word. I walked down stairs where I found Ian and amber in the kitchen and something told me to hold back so I did.
“Ian she’s just scared,” amber sighed and she sat on the counter. Ian ran a hand through his hair and leaned against the counter beside her.
“Yeah I can see that amber but maybe that’s a good thing. Maybe our world really isn’t for her,” he muttered and amber wrapped an arm around his shoulders.
“If she wasn’t meant to be in our world then why was she made your mate? Don’t let her end up like cadence Ian. Let her in and allow her to decide what she wants.”
“And what if she decides to go back home and not join the pack?” Ian asked as he turned to look at her.
“That’s for you to decide Ian. Either you stay here or you chase after your one and only true love,” amber said and jumped off the counter. “What ever you decide the pack will be at your side you know that.” She gave him a hug before she went out the back door leaving Ian standing there alone.
“Destiny?” he spoke after a moment of silence and I almost jumped out of my skin but I didn’t say anything. “Destiny I can tell your there” I cursed under my breath but walked into the kitchen and faced Ian. His face was blank and his body relaxed as he looked at me.
“I’m sorry,” I breathed and he shook his head.
“Don’t apologize destiny I shouldn’t have let my wolf take over like that,” he whispered and stepped closer to me.
“I want you to know that I made my decision Ian,” I told him and he stiffened and his face became worried. “After seeing what you truly are and what your home really is I decided I never want to be anywhere else but at your side.” His eyes widened and his mouth flopped open but I continued before he could say anything. “I hate that I have to leave my family behind but I know I will be able to see them every once in awhile and that I will have a new family right here.”
“You’re staying?” he asked as if he didn’t understand what I was saying.
“Im not going anywhere,” I said and he smiled down at me and pulled me against him. I looked up at him and he pressed his lips to mine and instantly shocks spread through my body. I had never felt so at home then when I did standing there with Ian’s arms wrapped around me. I may not have known him for very long but I could already feel myself falling for him. Was that the mate connection or just me? Whatever it was I never wanted to be away from Ian ever again.
