Chapter: 6

Amy Pov

"Amy it's already 1:30 in the afternoon. How can you still be sleeping?!?!" Tails says while bursting into my room. Dam I didn't know it was that late.............I still want to sleep though.

"Tails you don't understand how comfy this bed is. Go away, I want to sleep still." I mumble while laying down on the pillows.

"You have to wake up already. Sonic is leaving to the ceremony in about an hour and half so unless you want to look like that, I'll start getting ready." He explains while gesturing at my bed hair. Tails has gotten really sassy over the years.

"Fine I'll get up, but-" I say while yawning but was interupped by Sonic's voice.

"If you're hungry I made pancakes, eggs and bacon. Just grab a plate and serve yourself, now I need to get ready." He says while poping his head in and out of the doorway. I was just about to ask. Well I can say without a doubt that Sonic is a psychic.

"When did Sonic learn how to cook? Last time he cooked, he burnt everything and almost burnt down the house." I tell Tails while shivering from the memory. I can say the pasta he "made" was............not edible. Tails and I began to go towards the kitchen to eat.

"Yeah I know right. After I decided to live with Sonic, I told him to go into cooking classes." Tails says while taking a bite of a pancake " I can definitely say it worked out.Can I ask you something Amy?"

"Yeah go for it." I say while serving myself a plate of the food.

"Are you really dating Shadow. I mean not to sound rude, but last time I talked with him, well he was a...." He starts but stops to find the right word. Funny how Tails can be totally sassy at one point and the other moment he can be completely considerate.

" A complete cocky asshole who thought he was the "ultimate lifeform". Yeah he was if that's what you mean." I say without taking my eyes away from the plate of food.

"Yes I hated him for that, so why are you with a guy like that?" He asks while looking towards me. Should I really just tell him why.

"Well he changed surprisingly and for the better. He has become more sweet and kind." I say hoping he doesn't ask the question. Please don't say it Tails.

"Why did Shadow change, I mean he seemed like he would never do that. Even when he was with someone he was the exact same." Tails begins to question me. Dam I really don't want to say why he did it. I'm dam sure he did it out of pity. Sure he did like me when I saw him, but he saw how vulnerable I was. He was able to get me out of that wretched place. "Also why did you go to become a trained fighter to begin with?"

"Well........let's just say he rescued me from a horrible place where I felt very............vulnerable and....................abused." I say while feeling my hands begin to shake. "He told me that I was better than to be there. He also told me that he can get me out of there. After I was taken away from that place I decided I NEVER wanted to feel hopeless ever again. So I made the decision to work in becomeing a trained fighter just like Shadow. Ever since then, I trusted Shadow with everything. He was there for me." Tails reaches over and wipes a tear away from my cheeck. I didn't even notice I was tearing up. *sigh* I guess I'm still the same Amy after all. The same one that depended on others to help her.

"It's ok......I'm sorry that I asked you.......I shouldn't be so prying." He apologizes to me.

"No no it's ok. I'm just too emotional sometimes." I say while trying to laugh the pain away. I made a promise that day and I intend to keep it. I'm never going to feel weak again or allow myself to be completely taken care of.

"Alright as long as you're ok and thank you for taking the job too." He says while getting up from the chair.

" What do you mean by that?" I ask with curiosity.

"Well you had no idea if Sonic would be the same and even without knowing you still took the job. And even if it was for the money, I know for a fact you wouldn't have just came for that." Tails tells me while looking over his shoulder. Wow he still is the smart kid I knew in the past. He's spot on, I really didn't want to come for that reason, but I came hoping he did change. "Thank you, Sonic hasn't been this happy for quite sometime. And if Sonic's happy I'm just as happy."

"Don't mention it. You're right I wanted to come to see if he has changed from the way he was before hand." I say looking down. Tails nods and we exchange a "see you in a bit". I'm glad I made the decision to come back.

*Time skip *

"So this is what I don't get about you rich people. Why in the hell do you guys need a limo for about 3 people not including the driver." I ask Sonic genuinely wanting to know.

"Well it's because................well it's obvious that we need..............yeah we are just showing off." Sonic says raising up his hands in defeat. Tails and I begin to laugh since Sonic stated it like it was a fact.

"Um Sonic sir. We arrived here for the opening of the new town hall." The limo driver, Henry says to Sonic. I had a conversation with Henry before we got on and I can say we are besties already. He seems to genuinely care about Sonic since he helped his family get rid of their debt. Something that I would have never thought the old Sonic would do for someone.

"Alright thank you Henry. Also we'll be done in about an hour or two, but we'll call you if that changes." Sonic informs him. Henry nods and runs out the car to open our door. Dang there are a lot of people here and by the stories of the attemped assassinations that Sonic had been in, this is the perfect setting for one.

"We'll need to be careful here Sonic. This is such a huge amount of people anything can happen here." I whisper into Sonic's ear. He nods and continues to walk to the podium at the top of the steps. I look around trying to spot anything suspicious.

"So how's everyone doing today." Sonic says into the microphone. Sonic begins to talk along side the mayor of the town. The crowd is cheering and I look towards spoting a man hiding behind a group of people. I begin to run towards to him. By the time I reach him he pulls out a camera. Oh, I need to see before I act. I better make my way to Sonic. I say looking towards the front of the crowd.

"Wow I'm way in the back now." I thought while looking around trying to find an opening "Wait what is that!?! Shit I need to hurry!" I see a red dot being shined from a building that is aiming straight for Sonic. I quickly try making it to Sonic. No I'm too slow, I can't lose him...........not now. Sonic realizes that im running towards him. I make it to him and push him out of the way, only to hear a gunshot and feel an impact which knocked me to the floor.

All I hear are the screams of the crowd and the sound of their feet running to safely.
