Chris

Two Weeks Later

Ever since the funeral, I've just been out of it. I bought a loft to live in temporarily since Nae kicked me out. I cancelled all of my shows out of the country this month so I could clear my head. The only time I left was to get my kids. Nae tried her best to avoid me because in order for me to see my kids, I had to get them from my mother's house.

Somebody knocked on my door, so I sluggishly got out of bed with just some basketball shorts on. I opened the door and saw my mother. "Baby, put some clothes on please." She walked in. I took a deep breath closing the door.

"Wassup, Ma?" I asked, going into the bedroom and picking up a random t-shirt on, putting it on.

"Chris, when was the last time you went out and did something?" I sat on the couch with her.

"I don't know." I shrugged looking at the floor.

"I understand you're upset, but your fans need you. Your kids need you."

"I see my kids almost everyday, Mama, I haven't stopped carin' about them."

"They need you to continue to be Chris. Every time you see your kids, they either come to this place, or you see them at mine. Baby, you need to get out more."

"How is Nae doing?" I asked her.

"She's doing alright. Have you spoken to her?"

"She don't wanna hear anything. I tell her I love her everyday, and she ignores me. She only listens when it's about our children." I rubbed my hair.

My mom sighed, "Chris, did you sleep with Jamira?"

"Ma, hell no. I wouldn't dare touch her ass. I would never touch her again, ever. I haven't cheated on Nae in how long? Why would I mess that up with Jamira out off all people? She lied on me."

"What happened then, Chris?"

"Ma, you know 'Kari was in the hospital. She was all depressed and stuff, so I went over to her house. Not because I was sleeping with her but because she's the mother of my child, and I had to make sure she was happy. All I did was hold her in my arms. That's it. And I regret it with everything in me, because she wanted to catch me doing something wrong."

"I am so sorry, Chris. Listen, you are a very good man. You are an amazing father, I know. But one thing you need to realize is that you cannot be too friendly with these females. Even if they do mother your kids. You gotta remember who you are and how much publicity those women would get, just because they have a picture with you."

"I understand, Ma."

"Try going out tonight, alright? Just try to enjoy yourself. Can you do that for me? The kids will be at my house, so come by around 1 o'clock." I nodded kissing my mom's face.

Amory

I rubbed my seven month old belly, watching Looney Tunes. Jakari was in the other room on the phone with one of his friends. He's been stopping by my mom's house regularly to "check" on me. He really has not been a big help.

Jakari came back in the room with my bag of Classic Lays chips. He handed them to me, sitting next to me on the couch.

"Who were you on the phone with?" I asked looking at him. He rolled his eyes, looking at the tv.

"Amory, what are you talking about?"

"Every time you come here, you make time for your 'friend'. Who have you been talking to?"
