"Ah... Cho!" I sneezed, lightly sucking up air through my, runny nose. Virgo handed me a tissue. "Thank you!" I croaked, taking it form her hand. I blew my nose into it, and crumpled it up and set it beside the mountain of other used tissues. "Mrs. McGarden, I hate to say this, but, you really shouldn't have been out in such horrible weather yesterday," Virgo commented, concern, glistening in her eyes.
"I know... But I needed to visit dad's grave on his birthday. Since no one else would," I explained, trying to sound, not as stuffy as before. Of course, my cold got the best of me and I still sounded very much stuff. "I'm really sorry Mrs. McGarden. I know how much you loved your father." She stated, sighing. Virgo had worked for our family, ever since I was four.
She used to play with me a lot until dad died and mother got all ruthless and uncaring. She meant a lot to me. She practically raised me because of mother's behavior. "Thank you, Virgo. That means a-a-acho!" I sneezed, closing my eyes tightly before reopening them again. I tightened the blanket around me, trapping the remaining warmth.
Virgo put the back of her hand, on my forehead. "Mrs. McGarden! You're burning up!" She almost yelled, getting up from the place of her chair. The metal object, scraped the floor as she moved it back when she stood up. It's already, flaking purple paint, falling away even easier than before. She went to the bathroom, looking around. I heard some muffled statements, and some objects moving around.
She finally, exited the bathroom. A thermometer, in her pearly white hand. The soft sunlight, that escaped the window, bounced off her skin. Making it seem like she was, almost glowing. She rushed over to me, her deep gray heels, clanking against the hardwood floor. She put the thermometer in my ear and pressed the white button on the side.
I stood still for a couple seconds, waiting to hear the sound that would mean it processed my results. I heard a light beep, and Virgo gently pulled it out of my ear. "Oh my! You have a high fever!" She exclaimed, turning the device over to show me. My eyes widened. "How is my temperature 102?!" I asked, very concerned about my own health.
"I don't know... Maybe-" She was cut off by my door, swinging open. I heard the pitter-patter of bare feet come towards me. I saw, my mother, walking towards me. She looked so calm, almost peaceful. The peacefulness I thought she had, disappeared when I saw the empty beer bottle in her doll-like hands.
Her soft blue curls didn't even look like curls anymore. They looked like they were teased and shown to multiple birds. Then I noticed her walk the way she walked when she was drunk. Her left foot always went to the side. That was how I knew, she was drunk. Not like I needed to know, how to identify if she was drunk or not.
She was always drunk, no exception anymore. "Pack your crap, you're moving out." She commanded, slightly slurring her words.
"What?!" I yelled, my voice cracked.
"You're moving out. You're going to move in with your new fiancee." She explained as if I was supposed to know this information already.
"What are y-you talking about? I don't have a-a fiancee!" I asked.
She chuckled and shook her head. "Since we don't have your lazy father's income anymore, we're broke. So you need to marry someone rich. So you can give me the money you get. Plus, I wanted you to move out ever since I knew you could," Move out? Move in with my "fiancee"? I haven't even met him yet.
"I c-can't move in with a s-stranger!" I tried to scream. My sickness, stopping me from doing so. "Well, you'll have to do get used to it." She snarled, rolling her eyes. "Mrs. McGarden, Levy is sick! She can't be out and about out of bed!" Virgo budded in, slight anger showed itself.
