It felt like my entire body was frozen. The wind was knocked out of me, and I had this horrifying expression on my face.

"P-Please don't tell me s-she killed someone......" I whispered, feeling my hands start to shake. That caught Gajeel's attention. He shot up, looking at me like I just told him the apocalypse was coming.

"Oh heavens no! She attempted to steal a TV. Witnesses say she looked intoxicated," He informed me, as my teeth started to chatter. I bit my lip, closing my eyes. At least she didn't end someone's life.

"Can I s-see her?"

"Yes, visiting hours are from nine to five. I'm calling from the David Lenny Police Station."

"Thank you....."

"Have a nice day,"

The line went dead. Have a nice day? Have a nice day?! Who would say that after they just told someone their mother was in jail? With shaking hands, I set the phone down on a nearby wooden table, looking up at Gajeel, who was now, a couple feet away from me.

"What was that?"

His tone didn't seem too angry, but I could tell he was trying to hold back.

"I-It was...... It was......"

"Levy." He warned, crossing his arms. I could tell he was serious, he even said my name.

"Gajeel-"

"And don't you lie to me, you're a horrible liar."

My words caught in my throat, as I just looked at him. This...... this could not be the way he finds out. This could absolutely not be it. I knew he would find out eventually, judging by the fact that my mother or any family member could just blurt it out or intentionally say it in front of him. But this couldn't be how he found out. By my mother being in jail? No way. Before I even knew my feet were moving, I ran out of the room, nearly tripping on the steps of the stairs. I ran fast confused maids, I could even hear Wendy calling my name when I pushed open the doors.

I stopped in the middle of the driveway, panting, and trying to figure out which way to go. I knew where the police station was, I remember going a couple of times because of my uncle who used to get into trouble often. I just had to figure out where I needed to go. I made a mental map, figuring out my entire route. I had to take into a count which route would be fastest, and I had to do it quick.

"Levy!" Gajeel growled, making me squeak and start running off. I hadn't finished my plan, so I was basically flying blind. I was just praying that I took the right road. I jumped over cracks in the sidewalk, pushing through the air that was going against me. I could hear Gajeel close behind, as I made a quick turn, glad I was on the right street. I saw the police station on the other side of the road, making me stop abruptly. I just had to cross the road. Problem was, cars were zooming past the gray pavement, and Gajeel was right on my tail.

He couldn't catch me. Without even thinking about what I was about to do, I ran onto the road, seeing cars coming towards me, and quick. I jumped to the sidewalk, nearly getting hit by a shiny white car that didn't care to stop. I panted, looking back and seeing Gajeel holding his chest like he just had a heart attack. Well, at least we were on opposite sides of the road. I quickly made my way over the police station, hearing the ring of the bell stationed at the door.

"Hello?" A woman behind a desk asked as I walked in. My breathing was heavy, as I wobbled over to the desk.

"My name is Levy McGarden, and I'm here to see my mother," I said, in between breaths that wouldn't stop.

She nodded, calling over a short man. He wore the regular police attire, which matched well with his golden blonde hair.

"Bring McGarden into the visiting room." She ordered the man, earning a nod.
