NASA has reported that an asteroid will be hitting the earth and possibly ending it in only four days. the government is making all families go into local shelters to hopefully protect them from the asteroid. all families must proceed calmly and go to their closet shelter."
•••
I looked at my parents.
they were dead set on the government making the shelters to protect us, but I didn't believe it. i have this crazy theory actually. I think that if we were to go across the country, we wouldn't get hit. that's because I think the government is targeting our side of the country, but what do I know right? they made shelters for us all to "stay safe". stay safe my ass.
my family was also dead set on driving to the shelter with our neighbors, the uries.
"Jennifer! come on already you ass! we're going to the shelter with Brendon and his family" my mom said.
oh that's right
Brendon.
Brendon Boyd urie had been bothering me ever since his family moved in when I was four. that meant he would fire paintballs at me, and spy on me when I was changing. well, he used to. now he was in this band that he was at practice for almost every hour of every day.
and by practice I mean being loud and annoying in his basement with his stupid friends. he was amazing looking. he had this perfect hair and his eyes and oh my--

"Jennifer? earth to Jennifer!? idiot!" my dad said, snapping on my face.
had I just daydreamed about Brendon?
NO
I needed to stop thinking about him. like- the world was going to end, so it's not like I have the slightest chance with him.
my mom and dad and I all walked outside. we looked up at the sky.
it was a weird shade of dark dark purple, and it was the middle of the day.

it was honestly beautiful

it was honestly beautiful.
that's when Brendon and his parents came out of their house.
Brendon's parents were always so nice. they were always smiling, year for some reason Brendon didn't like them. at all.  I wish my parents were always smiling.
the sky illuminated Brendon's features.
he looked amazing.
he walked up to me almost immediately
"Jen" he said
"don't call me Jen" I said back
"fine Jennifer I don't think this shelter is going to help us. at all." he said, I looked up at him
"that's what I thought!" I said.
"listen" he said, bending down a little so he was face to face with me. he was at least 4 inches taller than me
he's so hot...
STOP IT JENNIFER!
"I have a plan" he said
I rolled my eyes "what is it"
"if we get across the world, the asteroid won't directly hit us. we might just live!"
"what about our parents??" I asked
he looked at me with sad eyes
he knew.
my parents had been verbally abusive to me for as long as I could remember. they'd call me the worst names at the top of their lungs. it wasn't a shocker Brendon happened to hear
"okay okay. what if it doesn't work?" I ask
"then I die alongside the prettiest girl I know"

after about a good 20 minuets of convincing our parents we were going to meet them at the shelter, we finally got in Brendon's car.
it was a big red pickup truck (cough cough if you read possessed) and it smelt like smoke and cologne. it was awesome.
Brendon turned up the stereo and started playing sugar we're going down swingin by fall out boy.
"LETS GET TO THE OTHER SIDE OF THE COUNTRY he said.
"AND NOT DIE!" I added in
we laughed and we were off
