"I swear it was like that when I found it!" Hamilton blurted as soon as Jefferson's eyes fell upon the mess that was his office.

"Uh huh. And I'm sure that's why you look so guilty as well." He strode across the room to where the shorter man stood, eyes cast down, not daring to look up. "Alex. Why did you trash my office?"

Hamilton didn't meet his gaze as he spoke, "I didn't mean to. I was leaving some papers on your desk when I slipped and knocked everything off the table," he admitted, his cheeks flushed. Jefferson laughed as he picked up large stacks of papers from the ground. "You know, you're the clumsiest person I know Alex." Hamilton rolled his eyes, "Geez, thanks for the compliment." Jefferson tilted his head.

"No reason to be so petty." Alexander let out a laugh, "I'm a petty person."

"Glad you agree," Jefferson said, stroking a hand down his side, making him stiffen. "Thomas," he warned, although it sounded more like a plea. "I think some sort of punishment should be in order for what you've done here, don't you agree?"

"No!" He tried to dash out of the room, only to be stopped. His laughter soon rang through the air, and Alex was very careful when having to go in Jefferson's office from then on.
