You had me at hello- chapter two

I quite liked it in Jai's car. He had the heater set at the right temperature so that I didn't get cold and played quiet music in the background so that it wasn't awkward, not that it ever was anyway.

My head rested on the window as I stared out looking at every single droplet of rain hitting the road. Why did I have a water fight this morning when it was winter? My mum is obviously crazy...

"Are you warm enough" I must've been in my own world again because his question made me jump a little.

"yes...I'm fine" saying that I was fine didn't necessarily mean that I was fine on the inside, I was still a little hurt by the fact that Jai had gone missing for three weeks. Even though I still had Kyle, he was nothing like Jai...and I missed him a lot when he was gone.

"Kaylea...I'm sorry" wow does this boy read minds or something?

"What happened to you?" I whispered, but loud enough for him to hear. I sat upright and off the window looking at Jai waiting for a pretty damn good explanation.

"I...I umm...look, I wanted to tell you...but I..."

"You what?"

"I...I was too hurt by it..."

Oh my gosh, talk about stuttering much! "You were hurt by what Jai?" get to the point would you.

He pulled the car over and rested his head on the steering wheel. What was wrong with this boy?

"My parents are dead Kaylea." umm...frozen here. what does he mean they're dead?! I've been as close to them as I was to Jai, they were like my second family. What do I do? what do I say? stop think too much Kaylea just talk to him.

"I...I..." well I guess stuttering is contagious.

He didn't move his head from the steering wheel.

"It's alright. I couldn't really talk properly when I first found out the news as well...that's why I ran from your house when I got the phone call."

So that's what the phone call was.

"Jai-" he sat up properly, shifting closer to me. Soon enough I found myself snuggling into his chest while his arm was looped around me. I felt like I was home.

"Kay-Kay, its fine" he smiled

"but what happened?" I finally managed to say

"Car accident...while I was at your house."

"Jai I'm so sorry-"

"There's nothing you need to be sorry for, really" Jai was tough, and I knew he was trying to be strong. this was the only family he has...or had. I could tell he was hurt by the look in his eyes, he just didn't act or look the same and it made me feel...broken. "it's been three weeks and now I've had the courage to go to your house and talk to you" he laughed "so I'm pretty sure I'll be fine"

"Now!" he said while putting the car back into drive and pulling out into the busy road again "work time"

Why did he have to remind me?

"Soooo...have fun at work!" he quickly leaned over my lap and opened my car door for me, pushing it open and bolting up right again into his seat...waiting for me to get out. I sighed and looked ahead into the windows of the café. it was nearly empty like always, but it's a family business and I know them so I decided to help them out a little bit.

"Jai, are you trying to get rid of me" we both let out a chuckle

"What...pfft, no. wait" he looked past me and out the passenger window "is that...is that Kyle's car?" of course I turned around and yep, there it was, his black holden ve ute. Oh and there he was also leaning on the outside of it.

"Umm Jai" I smiled "thanks for bringing me to work I'll see you later k!" I jumped out of the car and ran through a few free parking spots and into Kyle's arms. He hugged me back even tighter while attempting to kiss my cheek. I wrapped my legs around his waist and he spun me around, making me sort of dizzy...once he put me down I realised that Jai's car was still there...and he was sitting in it...watching. As soon as I met his gaze he rushed out of the parking lot and sped off...looking annoyed.

"What is wrong with that freak?" well that wasn't rude at all.

"Jai...his name is Jai. He bought me here, remember coz we have been good friends for a while now"

"Yeah, well...I want him gone" haha, that isn't going to happen anytime soon.

"So, what are you doing here?" I said awkwardly

"I came to see you, duh. Can you really be that stupid?" well that stung a little.

"Umm I gotta start work now...I'll talk to you later" before I could walk off he grabbed me tightly by the wrist pulling me back closer to him.

"wait babe, what else are you doing this weekend?" remembering about mine and Jai's conversation in the car about catching up, I decided to tell Kyle. One thing you definitely need in a relationship is trust right?

"Me and Jai were gonna hang out..."

"Jai?" he said looking confused "no no no no no no I don't think so. WE are going to the movies together." he said abruptly making me a little bit scared.

"But..." I tried fending for myself, I guess I'm not very good at it.

"No buts" he said "and I suggest you don't try change what I have planned for us unless you want something to happen to that black hair blue eyed boy"

"Jai...his name is Jai." I said again

"Does it look like I give a crap?" he smirked "Anyway, gotta run. Later babe" he leaned down to kiss me but I moved my head slightly so he just got my cheek. "Hmm, fine by me...for now" he smirked again and then winked at me before jumping in his car and speeding off.

What have I gotten myself into?
