POV:Lillian
The tailor came to take his final measurements on the coronation dress. He showed me the fabrics, which were based on my mother's old coronation dress. Flowing silks the color of summer skies, lace the color of the clouds themselves. He would be back next week to do any alterations on the finished dress.
Daniel came with his father again; book in hand and stolen glances between us.
I went up to my room after they left and sat in the windowsill overlooking the kingdom. I would soon rule over all of this; from the rolling fields of grain to the bustling market to the backstreets. It would all be mine.
------------------------
Night fell quickly and I waited until the castle fell into a quiet slumber, all of the lights in Augustine out except for the Royal Tailor's and mine. I drew my black hood around me and made my way out the servants' door.
Before long the warm lights from the tailor's windows rose up before me, along with Daniel leaning against the wall, just as before.
"Hey Princess," He called with a tip of his hat.
"Fancy meeting you here, Daniel." I said, giggling.
He then took my hand and we walked off to our paradise.
In the midst of our talking and laughing I heard a loud crunch crunch of leaves and I whipped my head to the direction from which it came.
I squinted into the darkness and I could make out a silhouette but that was all I could see. The figure froze when they saw me. The shadow took a step forward and cracked a branch, which startled Daniel.
Daniel stood up and yelled, "Stay away from the princess!!" , just as the figure started running in the other direction.
"Calm down tough guy." I scoffed.
I held my hand out and watched as green tendrils of energy shot from my palm and lassoed around the fleeing figure.
I started to pull the green rope back, dragging the figure towards me.
When I finally got the figure where I could see them, I already knew who they were before I flipped the hood of their cloak off of their mop of shining black hair.
"Good evening, sister. How was the trip?"
