Pov: Rosaline
I ran my hand along the terrace balcony's railings, the old rusted iron swooped and swerved into tangles and tangles of loops. This continued all around the terrace, and lead back inside the castle. I turned around to look off the terrace until Lily came to join me.
The village below stretched a mile or two, then dissipated into rolling hills and trees. Tomorrow all the people in the village will be watching, as their long lost queen stands before them. I'm not going to let my "innocent" little sister take away my crown again, or my life for that matter
-----------------------------------
Golden rays of sun had just started to peek over the horizon when I heard the terrace door open. I turned to see a grumpy, sleepy-eyed, Lily staring me down.
"Sleep well ,Lily?" I asked cheerfully,"I suppose not, from the upset look on your face."
"No, I slept well," Lily grumbled, hateful eyes piercing through the cool morning air like daggers. The sun may have started to warm the earth beneath my feet, but the blood in my veins runs colder than ever under her gaze.
" Your little note just ruined my wonderful morning.", She continued.
"Oh, how dreadful!" I giggled. Toying with my sister was more fun than I remembered.
I looked down to see her hand twitch.
"Cookie?" I asked with an outstretched hand holding her favorite treat.
She flicked her finger to the right and the cookie followed, flying out of my hand.
Her glare sharpened even more, if that's possible.
It's working. Turns out her temper is just as bad as it used to be. Old habits die hard ,I suppose.
"So how have things been during my absence, sister dearest? Any boys to catch your eye?" I asked casually, sipping my tea. I made sure to act like I didn't know what had happened.
Her hand twitched again, this time more violent, more sudden.
"What about that boy I saw you by the river with? He was dashing, wasn't he?" I tittered. I had her on the brink of eruption, I could tell.
"You two would be a lovely couple!"
There's only one way to describe what happened next. It's like the moment a supernova collapses and turns into a black hole. Unimaginable force, crackling energy, hanging by a thread in the air.
Lillian yelled and sprinted at me. I waited until the last second and moved out of the way. With a snap of my fingers, a wall of energy formed around her. She slammed her fists against the wall, yelling obscenities too vulgar to share.
I ran back inside the castle to go greet those that I had so terribly missed.
-----------------------------
I strolled through the castle, looking at how things had changed. Mom's favorite vase was missing. Dad's favorite books were tucked away.I guess Lily had moved them.
I ran into one of the maids in the hallway. She didn't recognize me at first, then realization hit her like a wall. She dropped the laundry she was holding and I ran at her, hugging her as if I'd never let her go.
"R-Rosa....", she stammered," Y-You're alive!"
"Yes, I'm very much alive!" I joked.
I explained what Lily had done, and the old maid's eyes grew wider with each word. Then she started shaking. Violent tremors shook her so much I thought she'd break. She raised a shaky finger, pointing behind me.
I turned just as Miss Margret fell to the ground behind me.
