CHAPTER TEN
Monday, September 14th

School was extremely annoying.

So was Randy. He had pestered Alex all day about his hand and had refused to believe that he had simply hurt himself, almost as if he knew it was something more.

Whether it made sense or not, Alex had started to be wary of the Ludricks, and since then Randy had started hanging out with him regularly. People would ask,

"Alex, since when were Randy and you friends?"

And he'd reply "since this morning."

It was annoying to deal with all the attention and everything, and his newly wrapped arm didn't help.

His first injury had healed up, so had the bleeding wounds and scratch marks. But his hand felt like some other wolf with less powerful jaws was constantly clamped onto it.

Class breezed by and Alex didn't pay attention in most of them. AJ was more than worried about him and all of his recent injuries, during a class he called out to him asking if he was alright.

"Hmm, yeah I'm fine," he said in a daze.

Alex didn't even come for lunch. He began to feel disoriented as he approached the cafeteria doors; the mix of smells, the loud noises and the general rowdiness of the place irritated him. The idea of standing shoulder to shoulder with people was very discouraging.

Later, Natalie texted him if he was alright, he replied that he was, but that was a lie. He felt like the exact opposite of alright. The sudden care from Aj and Natalie, Randy's persistence and the constant pain he felt from his hand was driving him crazy.

The last class of the day came. Finally. It was his least favourite, Physics but anything to get away from school. Class went on as usual and he, as usual didn't pay attention.

Then the weirdest thing happened. Mr Andrew must have  seen her through the window because he stopped reading and waved her in. The door opened and Alex having seen the exchange became curious to see who would come this late.

Amara walked in in pumps (the sports kind).

She looked better than ever, her red hair fell around her in waves. She wore a sundress similar to the one she wore the day they first met.

The whole class perked up at her arrival, all their attention was on her. She did that cute smile that always made Alex feel like mush. The class started becoming rowdy as students  whispered to each other.

"Silence," Mr Andrew said to the rowdy class, "We'll be having Miss Grey with us from today, and I  expect you to treat her as you'd treat anyone else."

He turned to her, "Amara, you can seat in any available seat you want,"

The only available seats were at the front of class and behind class, beside him.

"What are you doing here?" He asked as soon as she sat down next to him,

"I'm going to school... you?" Amara said with a grin.

Alex huffed, without realising it he had been silently hoping that Amara wasn't a Ludrick. But he had never heard of the Greys.

"A heads up won't have been bad,"
