CHAPTER ONE
Sunday, September 6th

He ran, sprinting like never before, the sweat pouring from his forehead and flowing down his face he quickly wiped it off along with his mop of sandy blonde hair that was falling into his eyes.

The adrenaline made his heart beat furiously his pursuer hot on his tail, his earpiece was firmly placed in his ears as he ran along to the fast song, maybe just a bit faster.

She caught up grabbing his shoulder tiredly, the girl, her hair long and a flowing light brown was tied with a scrunchy holding it firmly so it hung above her back, she put her hands on her laps and stretched her hand forward showing her palm with her five digits up as if saying hold on, it was clear, she was exhausted, she changed her position after she caught her breadth, her hands placed firmly on her superbly curved hips

"Alex, didn't I tell you to hold on," she said trying to keep a straight face

Alex grinned making his dimples visible on his at each side of his cheek "Hey don't blame me blame the music I couldn't hear you." It was obviously a lie,

"You liar, you just took off once I stepped out of my house!" She was plane out shouting now "Sometimes you really piss me off, you know?"

"Yeah, I do but you can't be annoyed at me for so long, after all it's me " he said wagging his eyebrows,

"Whatever let's just finish this jog," she said smiling, and they took off, both of their shoes squeaking just a little bit as it hit the floor.

"Where to this time?" She asked

"The usual I guess," he replied

"Blue Lake park? You're obsessed with that place do have history there or something."

"Nah, not really it just gives me a sense of freedom like a personal mini forest."

"Sure weirdo," she said grinning at him then he playfully rammed into her with his shoulder

The park was all green with a pond right in the middle of it, the pond was big almost as big as a lake and during a full moon the lake seemed to be coloured a light blue. There were benches scattered here and there and trees erected from the ground providing shades.

"This place is so peaceful today, what do you think?"

"Yeah, sort of." Alex replied,

"Oh shit, I have to get back home Alex, see you in school tomorrow," Riley said waving her hands at him he waved back and then he thought, 'school?'

"Frack, school's tomorrow? I forgot," he exclaimed to himself smacking his forehead continuously, he immediately brought out his phone to check what time it was, then he saw a message, it read:

From: AJ

About: School
Hey Alex, completely forgot tomorrow was school meet me at the mall at 2:30 ASAP, hope you don't mind, thanks.
Your best friend.

Of course AJ Alex's best friend since freshman year would forget as well, he was just as forgetful as Alex and they had a lot in common.

The wind blew across Alex's face causing his long bangs to fall into his eyes, he brushed it away and looked around Blue Lake was now completely deserted not even a soul in sight, he was about to turn to go home when he saw a figure on a bench under the shade of the trees, he strained his eyes further until he could make out a girl and from what he could see she was plane out gawking at him.

"Strange I didn't see anyone here before," he turned to go feeling the awkwardness 'she could be looking any where' it was a park after all.

Alex arrived in front of a wide duplex, the front lawn well kept and cut. The roof was a light chocolate brown colour, this matched with the cream coloured body of the house, there were two steps made of marble that led up to the dark ebony door a knocker was placed at the center of the door, instead of using that he stretched his hand reaching for the door bell on his right, 'ding', it rang, 'ding ding' it rang again after that the sounds of two or more door locks could be heard then it ended with a 'click'.

A girl with blonde hair and sapphire blue eyes stuck her head out when the door was slightly opened " oh, it's you, hey Alex,"

"Yes it's me, Alex the one and only," he said a he shoved his way in, after the door was shut a voice rang out from inside the house, "April who was it?" the voice said, "It was just Alex mum," April replied

"Hey mum, morning," Alex greeted from the door of the kitchen where his mum, Stacy was "Hey Alex, you left early today, where you with Riley?"

"Yeah we just went to Blue Lake park and came back, no biggy," he shrugged, of course he didn't tell his mom about the girl he saw at the park, she could have been looking anywhere plus he didn't even know how she looked, he only knew she had straight long hair and anyone could have had that, he slipped the thought to the back of his mind and ran up the stairs into his room.

Alex was staring at his watch, it was 3:00 of course the idiot would say 2:30 ASAP thinking it was cool, and then actually come late, Alex cursed himself for coming on time. He had been waiting for thirty, no thirty one minutes now and AJ wasn't still there, then his phone vibrated in his pocket, it was a text from AJ, it read:

Can't see you, where are you? Are you sure you're at the pentagon mall yet?

Alex immediately replied yes then he realized something, then he grabbed the arm of a passerby and asked what mall he was in just to confirm "It's Main Street mall," the man replied.

His fears had been confirmed he was at the wrong mall, "I'm so going to kill that idiot," he thought to himself, the Pentagon mall was across town and without a car it would take hours to get there AJ knew that so Alex quickly texted again , 'Wait, what mall?'

He got the reply immediately "Just kidding" , then he looked up from his phone and saw AJ, he was tall about 6" 3 but he was also black, he had dark hair and brown eyes, Alex speed walked to AJ and punched him on his shoulder.

"Idiot, you scared me,"

"Hey I didn't do anything, it was your fault you fell for it," AJ said raising his hands in his defence ,

"Sure blame me, let's just find the stationery store and get it over with."

"Mom I'm back and drenched in rain water," Alex announced as he closed the door silently, no response came he flung his shopping bag on the chair, it rebounded and spilled onto the floor

"shit!"

Pulling his shoes off Alex began to pick the contents of his shopping bag off the floor.

"Alex is that you?" His mom's voice questioned from upstairs

"Yes it's me mom I just got back from meeting AJ."

No reply came she must have been really tired he guessed. He opened the door to his room shutting it with his foot and then collapsed on his bed letting out a sigh. His mind ran through the events of the day; it seemed almost completely normal apart from the weird girl in the park, the more he thought about it the more it seemed like he was hallucinating when he saw her and the more he forgot about how she looked.

"This will probably all seem like a dream tomorrow," he thought to himself, he picked his phone and earpiece and playing the first song he could find.

After a few minutes he fell asleep.
