After a few days, I noticed a few things that had changed since I shifted. I craved meat more, and I wanted it rawer, too. My sense of hearing and smell had increased, too, and I always found it hard to sleep at night. When I did get sleep, I always had dreams and nightmares about wolves and werewolves.
Interspersed with these things were thoughts and dreams of Peter. I was in love with him, and wanted to see more of him. But I was scared Brian would follow me. He didn't speak to me anymore, and always gave me shifty looks. It broke my heart. He hated me, and was probably going to need a lifetime of therapy.
I broke him, and he broke me. My life was different now, I wondered if I'd ever be able to live a normal one again. I was thankful Brian was keeping the secret, though, despite his hatred. That was one of the things I loved about him, he kept his word and he always kept his promises.
One evening, I was on my couch watching a werewolf movie and enjoying a nice frozen dinner when I heard a knock on my door. I set my dinner down, paused my movie and approached the door. I looked through the window to see one of my neighbors.
I never really spoke to her much, but I knew her name was Sapphire, and her appearance wasn't hard to miss. She had bright light blue eyes and long white hair. She also had pale skin. She looked like the snow queen. I smiled and opened the door.
"Hi!" I greeted happily.
She smiled back. "Hello, Felicia, may I come in?"
"Sure, I don't see why not." I said, standing aside to let her walk in before closing the door. "So what brings you here?"
She was scanning my living room carefully. After giving my living room a full search with her eyes, she looked back at me. "I think you know." she replied, her blue eyes piercing me.
I paused, wondering what she meant, until I caught a whiff of her scent. "You're one of them?"
"Oh yes, I've been one for a long time." she replied.
I wondered if she knew my plans and came here to kill me, but I was sure not to show it. Peter never told me about the other werewolves.
"I know you're apprehensive, but while I'm one of them, I'm not like them. You can trust me. I've known Peter for a long time, too, and if I wasn't already under the alpha's spell, I would
ve killed him myself." she explained, sitting down on my couch.
I slowly took a seat beside her. "So what do you want?"
"I don't want anything. You need a friend, someone to talk to, someone to relate to. I'm sorry to hear about Brian, but I just want you to know that you're not alone in this. I've lost all of my friends and family because of this."
I couldn't help but feel comfortable around her. I was always careful when making friends, but she sounded completely trustworthy. And I was vulnerable. "Thanks, I'll accept your request."
She laughed. "Glad to hear it. Oh, by the way, if you want to talk to Peter, he'll be at the very end of the forest, on the border of this town and the other. Just be sure to look up, because the police will never find him in the trees. He might as well grow wings and become a bat now."
"At least he'd be a real vampire then." I replied with a laugh.
"Maybe that would make him feel better about his condition."
"I don't think anything will."
She sighed and nodded. "I don't blame him. At least we're not immortal. Just imagine how it must've felt to watch the world change around you, as you stayed the same."
