I'm out in my wheat field when I hear barking and meowing. I turn around, and Paul is coming with a big smile on his face.

"What's going on?" I ask.

"I got them!"

"Got who?"

"Pets! Two dogs and two cats! I can't believe my luck!"

I stare in amazement as two white dogs with red collars walk up behind him, along with an orange Tabby and Siamese cats.

My eyes grow wide. "Oh my gosh! How did you get them? Where did you get them? Can I pet one?"

Paul laughs. "I fed bones to the dogs and fish to the cats, I got the cats from the jungle and the dogs from a pine forest about four hundred blocks from here, and yes, you can pet them all if you want."

I squeal and run my hands through the soft fur of the dogs and cuddle the cats. Paul tells me that the dogs were wild wolves and the cats were wild ocelots.

"Can you...show me how to catch some?" I ask shyly.

"Sure," Paul says, "but first, let me give you a couple of bones and some fish."

I take the bones and fish and follow Paul. He takes me to the pine forest first, where there's a whole pack of eight wolves. I feed two bones to one wolf and three to another. They suddenly have white fur, red collars, and are sitting down. I jump excitedly. I have pets!

Next, Paul takes me back to the jungle. He tells me to walk quietly while holding a fish in my hand because ocelots are shy and hard to find. After half an hour of searching, I finally find one. Paul whispers to me to let the ocelot come to me. Then, I'll feed it fish. I crouch quietly as the ocelot comes toward me slowly. Finally, I feed it one fish. It starts to take off, but I feed it one more fish and... yes!

The ocelot is now a Siamese cat that's sitting down. I let it stand up and follow me, along with the dogs. We go off in search of another one.

I find another ocelot. It comes up slowly. I quickly feed it four fish before it sits down and becomes an orange Tabby. I gleefully let it up and follow me home with the rest of us.

On the way home, Paul explains to me why it's good to have these pets. The dogs will kill anything that hurts you and anything that you hit first except for creepers, as long as they're not sitting. They have health like us, though, and need to be fed. The cats don't like chickens and will kill them sometimes, if they're not sitting. They also keep the creepers at bay because the creepers are scared of them. I also don't have to worry about them falling off of ledges because they won't take any damage. They land on their feet.

By the time we're done talking, we make it home. It's nighttime. We go inside and sit our animals down. Paul takes his pets in his room and goes to bed. I go to sleep, too, weary from the long day.
