Since when did he attend Keaton Academy? Surely he would have had the decency to tell her; it's not like they weren't on speaking terms when everything was called off. If not, she would have expected her mother to mention something.

Julia held her gaze, trying to get a better glimpse of him. She had to confirm everything before she got her hopes up.

"There you are, Jules!"

Julia groaned at Kimmy's pet name and turned to watch her skip up. "I thought you'd be in the cafeteria or something."

"I wasn't hungry," Julia replied quickly.

Kimmy shrugged. "Whatever. Come on, you've got two minutes to get to class."

She grabbed her hand and rushed her upstairs.

"It was awful," Julia confessed. She ran a hand through her hair and sighed.

"How so?" Emory asked. She sat on the bed, looking at her daughter through the mirror.

"It..." Julia covered her head in her hands. The afternoon went by much faster than the morning, for which she was grateful, but that one flash...that almost ruined her entire first day.

But she knew she couldn't say anything.

"I just didn't like having to follow someone around all day," she said simply.

Her mother's eyebrows raised. "Well, if that's all..." she trailed off. "You do know the campus, but now you've had a taste of your classes...this semester should be a breeze."

Julia smiled. "I hope so."

Emory patted her daughter's shoulder and broke out into a smile. "Now, don't you have a new roommate to go meet?"

As she walked up the steps to the famed Norwood Dormitory Hall, Julia was once again reminded of how much she detested the idea of sharing a room. The fact that she was sharing a room with a complete stranger didn't do anything for her nerves, either. Anybody could be behind that door. It could be a girl who shaved her head and pierced her tongue...or she'd have to live with someone who partied all the time. Julia didn't want to be woken up at 4:30 every morning because her roommate had forgotten her key.

She had reached the main office in a matter of seconds. "Hi," she said, smiling. "Can I have the key for Room 1023 please? I'm Julia Castle."

She regretted adding that last detail in her head. It made her sound stuck up. Over to her right she noticed a boy sitting in one of the chairs against the wall, who had been staring at her for what seemed like the last couple of minutes. Julia realized it was probably because he recognized her last name. She rolled her eyes out of anger and turned back to the desk as she received her key. "Thanks," she muttered.

Wild images of her roommate and remaining nausea from the morning made Julia feel even more uneasy as she approached her door and went inside.

The first thing she noticed was the food on the floor. She groaned as nacho chips crunched into tiny pieces under her feet. This would be miserable to clean up.

"Hello?" Julia asked timidly. The room appeared to be empty. Could she be in the wrong room? It's unlikely. She was at the right door, and the key had gotten her in. The eerie silence set in after a couple of seconds. Quickly Julia found the two beds. Someone had laid out their bags on the bottom bunk, so she would probably have to sleep on the top...not that she minded.

The door clicked open behind her and the room filled with laughter. Julia whirled around to meet her new roommate.

"Are you kidding me?!"

Author's Note:

I should probably stop with the cliffhangers. This one really doesn't count because y'all probably already know who it is...anyway, it should lead to some pretty interesting stuff...

I was actually bored out of my mind yesterday and I ended up writing the next two parts, so I might post more than once today. You never know.
