All of this chatter was starting to give Julia a headache.
Emory's classroom was filled with students, all talking at the same time and rather loudly. Some people were supposed to be in various classes across the halls, which annoyed Julia. However, she knew that soon her mother would come sauntering in soon enough, and everyone would leave.
As if on cue, she could just barely hear her mother's heels clicking on the tile, the sound growing louder and louder as she approached. Julia assumed that other people could hear it too; several of them quickly exited the room, and others took their proper seats.
Emory entered the room soon after, smiling. "Is this everyone?" she asked. "Good, let's get started right away today."
Julia breathed a sigh of relief, glad to have some peace and quiet.
"Everybody take out your notes from yesterday; let's just review really quick." Emory set her laptop bag on her desk and looked up at the class, awaiting a response. "Who can catch me up in five sentences or less?"
Julia surveyed her classmates as the room filled with chatter and the noises of shuffling papers. Suddenly a flash of color caught her eye. She looked over to her right and saw a girl with bright pink hair scribbling furiously in her notebook.
"Hey." Julia whispered. "I know you."
The pink-haired girl looked up at her, confused. "Me?"
"Yeah. Weren't you at the meeting on Friday?"
The girl leaned over in a flash and put her hand over Julia's mouth, shushing her. "It's supposed to be a secret!" she hissed.
"Oh. Right," Julia stammered. She pulled the girl's hand away from her mouth. "But you were there...right?"
The girl smiled at her. "Yep!" she said. "I'm Allie. Well, Allison, but my friends call me Allie."
Julia took her hand and shook it. "Nice to meet you, Allie," she replied, smiling back.
"Is there a problem back there, ladies?"
Suddenly Julia's attention snapped back into focus at the sound of her mother's voice. Emory stared at her, as well as the rest of the class, everyone awaiting a response.
"No, there's no problem," Allie said smoothly.
Emory raised her eyebrows. "Alright. Please pay attention from now on - especially you, Julia."
A couple students snickered at the mention of Julia's name. She felt her cheeks redden.
"Hey."
Julia looked over to Allie, who was pretending to still pay attention. "So what did you think?" she whispered.
"About what?" Julia whispered back.
"The meeting." Slight exasperation was audible, even in Allie's hushed tone. "Are you gonna do the project?"
Julia shrugged. "I don't know. Maybe."
Author's Note:
I feel like this is too short for one chapter. Sorry if you feel the same.
Now we know one more member of the Light's Men! I haven't figured out how to add cast members on mobile, but I picture Allie being played by Ashley Frangipane (Halsey).
Anyways, now Julia has four different people who all want her to participate in the Reject to Royal project. What do you think she will decide?
