Twelve

Julia opened the door to Room 1262 and was surprised to find the lights on. Had she read the letter wrong? Was the meeting at a different time, or in a different room?

She looked around at the various people sitting in front of her. Miles and Eva wrestled over a game controller on the couch while Allie photographed them from the love seat near the TV. Yep, this was the right room.

"What, no blindfolds this time?" she teased.

Everyone looked up at the sound of her voice. "Hey, you made it!" Miles said, smiling at her. He let go of the controller, causing Eva to fall back on the couch. "Hey, Castle," she grunted.

"Hi, Julia!" Allie waved from the other side of the room before snapping a picture of her in front of the door.

Julia looked at her strangely. "What's with the camera?" she asked curiously.

"I'm a budding photographer," Allie explained. She placed a hand over her chest and looked off into space dramatically. "I've finally found my calling."

Eva threw a pillow at her face, snapping her back to reality. "Oh, shut up, you just bought that camera like, a month ago."

Julia burst out laughing at the constant liveliness. "Is this what all of these meetings are like?"

Allie shrugged. "Pretty much."

"So where is-?"

The door swung open, making Julia jump. Tyler stood in the doorway, with two other people behind him, a boy and a girl. Julia didn't recognize him.

"Julia. You came," Tyler said, smirking. Julia could feel herself turning red by just looking at him.

He gestured behind him. "This is Kristen de Veyra and Liam Downey."
The two kids stood next to each other with a smug look across their faces.

"Hi," Julia said to them, waving awkwardly. She suddenly felt very small.

Tyler brushed past her and into the main room. "Alright, let's get this over with." He flinched at the sudden flash in front of his face. "Allie, put the camera away!" he snapped.

The kids met in front of the TV and sat in a circle, just like last time.

"I'm sure by now you all have met Julia Castle." Tyler gestured to Julia, who had taken the seat next to him. Everyone nodded in acknowledgement. "However, I must stress to you, Miss Castle is not yet a member of...what did we call ourselves again?"

Miles opened his mouth to answer but Eva placed her hand over his face to keep him quiet.

Tyler stared at them, clearly growing irritated. "Julia is not yet a member of our group, but I did convince her to stay for this meeting. You all should know what that implies."

The room grew eerily silent.

Tyler sighed. "Next order of business. Present your scores."

There was a slight shuffling of papers for a few seconds.

"Kristen, you go first," Tyler began. Julia watched as Kristen pulled a tiny slip of paper out of her pocket. "Geometry, A minus. English, B plus. Still waiting on the others."

Tyler nodded. "Good. Work more on English; I'm sure Julia could help you if you need it."

"What is that supposed to mean?" Julia asked.

Tyler ignored her. "Miles, you next."

Miles opened the notebook in front of him. "A plus on biology, A minus on algebra, and an A on English. Also a C plus on Western Civ, but I've already turned the extra credit."

Tyler showed no emotion. "Eva."

"A's on everything except trig. Still waiting for scores."

"Good." Tyler leaned over. "Liam."

The boy next to Julia pulled out his smartphone. He smirked at her before looking at his notes. "A plus on English with another A plus on the pop quiz, A minus on geometry, B plus on chemistry, an A on Western civ, and no upcoming tests in drama."

Tyler nodded. "Good work." He turned to Julia, watching the confusion on her face grow. "We make sure that grades are the top priority. Popularity isn't everything...I'm sure you know that." Julia was quiet. 

A knock at the door made everyone look up. Tyler grinned mischievously. "Pizza's here."

This is such a sucky ending. Like, I'm cringing every time I read over it. So sorry.

Regardless, Julia's first impression of the Light's Men has definitely changed. Things are only going to get more crazy from here on out.

Also, I'm thinking of copying a couple other Wattpad authors and doing a "song of the day" for each chapter. I've got a Spotify (carpfish10 just letting you know), so I'll make a playlist. Dunno.
