Chapter 11: Gary Returns and sudden death

Max

I really like to beat Ash once and for all. "Lucario, you ready?" The Pokemon agrees with my engery. Ash seems to be impressed. "I never thought that you would actually try to beat me in a battle, Max. I'm quite amazed of how much time has passed since we last saw each other in the Hoenn Region." As I was about to reply, someone said, "Well, if isn't Ashy-boy." Ash suddenly stops and his face was red. "Oh, boy." Brock said, "I know who is that." Emily said, "Please don't tell me it's-" Ash turned to the person who interrupted our battle. "Hi, Gary." 

Clement

who is Gary? Emily was not thrill to see this guy either. "Hi, Gary. What you want?" Gary was wearing a lab coat over his shirt and was a tall guy with brown hair. "I came here on a mission, Emily. I didn't expect to see you here with Ashy-boy." Ash was red and with anger. "I told you not to call me that." Bonnie, Serena and I were confused of the situation. Brock explained, "Gary is a Pokemon Trainer, just like Emily and Ash, and they are both from Pallet Town in Kanto, and they are childhood rivals." I said, "Wow. What a surprising confidence that Gary is here during Ash and Max's battle." Serena came forward and offered a handshake, "Hi, Gary. I'm Serena." Bonnie came out, "I'm Bonnie, this is Squishy and Dedenne." "Wow, an electric type pokemon, huh? I'm jelly." I rolled my eyes at Bonnie, "Bonnie..." "You must be her brother, huh?" Gary asks me. "Uh, yeah." I replied, "I'm Clement." Brock said, "Nice to see you again, Gary." "Grandpa wants to me to check on Emily to see how she's doing." Gary said. "Grandpa?" I asked. Emily said, "Gary is also the Grandson of Professor Oak." "Wait, the Professor Oak?!? The Poetry man and the researcher of Pokemon?" Ash beamed, "That's the one. Max, how about we take a break and we can have our battle resume later?" Max sighed, "Ok." He went towards the group and we went to the Pokemon Center to rest.

Ash

I was in shock that Gary interrupt our battle. As I was thinking, a video phone call rang. It was Professor Oak! "Ash! I'm glad that I was able to contact you!" I said, "Glad to see you, Professor. I didn't know that Emily was my sister. Why you didn't tell me?" He was blushing. "I'm sorry, Ash. But your mother told me to keep it as a secret from you. I'm guessing that you two had met." Emily butt in, "Of course we did! And Gary... is here with us." "Oh. I didn't know he was in the Kalos Region." Emily and I looked at one other, "We didn't expect it either, Professor. It was a surprise for us all." Then Emily had an idea. "Professor, check out this pokemon I caught!" She showed her Snivy. "Wow, A Snivy, huh? You are so like your brother, Emily." She blushes, "Aw, thanks, Professor. Pikachu and I are well too. Thanks for giving her to me." I was in total shock. "Wait a second! You mean to tell me that your Pikachu is your first Pokemon?!? Wow, I never guess that." Emily rolls her eyes, "Well, you didn't ask. You were busy challenging Max, remember?" I chuckled, "You're probably right about that." Professor said, "Oh, Max is with you, Emily?" She nods, "He is, with May and Brock. Max is really incredible trainer now." Suddenly, Pikachu went off somewhere! Emily cried, "Pikachu! Wait up for me!" Brock asks, "What's up with Pikachu?" I said, running after Emily, "I have no idea!" We followed Emily and her Pokemon into a warehouse. Emily ran right in. "Em, wait!" I cried, trying to stop her, but the whole warehouse exploded in flames!

Max

The fire was huge! We need to do something fast! "Wargturtle, use Water gun!" I said, pulling out the water Pokemon. Ash tried to get inside the warehouse. "Emily!" He cries and Brock holds him back, "Ash, no! it's too dangerous to go inside!" Ash said, "But Emily's my sister! I just can't stand here and do nothing about it!" Clement said, "Ash, Brock's right, it's too dangerous right now, and we need to think about the situation first before we go inside to find Emily and Pikachu. That is what Emily would want you to do." Ash groans and sighs, "Greninja, use Water Shurikan!" The Pokemon used the attack and the warehouse was out of flames. "That was way too close for comfort." Serena said, in breath. I looked at Ash's expression. I don't like the fact that Ash would be mad. "C'mon, let's go find Emily!" We went inside and Ash cried, "Emily! Emily, where are you?" I noticed a piece of her backpack. I don't want to be the one who give the bad news to Ash that Emily is gone. "Ash...." I hand him the piece and Ash said, backing up, "No... No, it can't be." I tried to comfort my friend, "Ash, it's all-" He yelled, "No, don't tell me that this is have to be! Emily is family! She can't be dead!" "Ash, you have to face the facts. She's gone."  I said, trying to reason with him. Ash didn't say anything and I knew that this is only the beginning. Ash turned to us and said, "I have to go compete the Kalos League, for Emily. She would me to compete and that's what I'm going to do!" He wrapped the piece of fabric of Emily's backpack into his necklace. "Let's go to the Snowbelle Gym!" I nodded and I decided to tell him the surprise. "Ash.. there's something you need to know." He looks at me with confusion. "What you mean?" "Ash, you're looking at your rival in the Kalos League." Serena, Bonnie, and Clement looked at me with utter shock. "No way!" Bonnie said, "You're competing in the Kalos League?" I nodded, "I wanted to surprise you during our match, Ash. I guess that it was worth the wait." Gary said, "I can't wait for you guys to compete one other." I said, nodding, "Yeah, Ash, how about it? That way we can finish our battle in the League. There's no doubt that I would beat you!" He suddenly smiles at me. "You know what, Max? I think we can decide who would win in the league. I can't wait!"
