Katherine's POV

"You're going away at even tide,

across the wild and the rolling sea,

we bid you stay, here by my side,

and share a last, farewell with me.

Through snow cloud mountains proud and tall,

or a thousand miles cross the burning sand,

our last farewell, then will I recall,

when I'm alone, in a far off land.

A wandering song, is all we know,

yet I love you more than words can tell

you hear thy call, then you're bound to go,

you leave us now,

with a last farewell."

-The Last Farewell arranged by conductor of SBCC

I finished typing the poem I just wrote, a farewell to Lauren. The doctor said if. If she makes it. If she doesn't, then this is my goodbye to her. Hmmm, maybe I could turn it into a song! I can't even say how much she means to me. She's my everything. Lauren was the sweet, sensitive, and sometimes crazy girl we all loved with all our hearts. The sound of the hospital door creaked open.

"Hello again." it was the doctor. "Have any of you heard of the blog, "Sonnets and Scribbles" on blogspot.com?" all eyes turned to me. That's my blog! We all nodded.

"That's good. I'm a big fan of the author, her name is Katherine Cimorelli. It must be a coincidence that you and her have the same last name!" boy did he not know. "Anyways, I love her new poem, The Last Farewell, that she just posted a few minutes ago." He began to recite my poem, reading it off his phone. I said it along with him, as I remembered the whole entire thing by heart. He noticed right away and glanced at me. "Are you a fan as well?" I shake my head.

"Doctor, it's nice to meet you. My name is Katherine Cimorelli." he grinned.

"I know, I just wanted to do that. Your poem is marvelous! It really speaks to you about this situation eh?" I nodded. "Okay, I brought it up because, Lauren has a 97% chance of dying and a 3% chance to live. I'm so sorry."

Whoa! A 97% chance to live and a 3% chance to not? That brings my hopes up high. Tears of joy stream down my face, and I see that everyone else's cheeks are wet. Joey was confused at all his family crying.

"What's happening?" he tugged on my sleeve.

"Lauren most likely will live!" I exclaim hugging him tight. All heads turned to look at me.

"What are you talking about, you idiot! Lauren has a more chance to die!" Michael scolded. What?

"Then why are you all crying?" I asked.

"Tears of sadness dimwit, and you, why are you crying? You have no reason to! You thought she was going to live!" Christina snapped.

"I was crying tears of joy! Gahh I got it all wrong!" I answer back. My whole family glared at me.

"Yeah right! I bet you wanted Lauren to die. You're lying!" Dani exclaimed. I'm taken back, astonished. All of the sudden my whole entire family was yelling at me.

"How dare you!" screamed Christina.

"You're so selfish!" Michael yelled.

"You've always hated Lauren!" Alex was angry.

"Yeah!" agreed Amy!

"What kind of person are you?! I thought you were my sister. I looked up to you! You're just jealous of Lauren because all the CimFam always comments, tweets, and follows her!" Dani was furious with me. Christian was just nodding to everything his siblings said. Lisa had ushered Nick and Joey out of the room just as they all started yelling.

"I got confused! You know I've never been good with numbers! Only words! Why are you all mad at me?" I argued back. There was another eruption, but this time from Dad.

"KATHERINE ANNE CIMORELLI! HOW DARE YOU TALK TO YOUR PARENTS AND YOUR BROTHERS AND SISTERS LIKE THAT! CAN'T YOU SEE WE'RE ALL GOING THROUGH THE TOUGHEST TIME OF OUR LIVES? GET OUT OF HERE AND NEVER COME BACK! WALK HOME TO GRAB YOUR THINGS AND LEAVE US ALL ALONE!!!!!!"

That was the hardest thing I had ever done. To walk away from my family. If that's what they wanted, that's what I was going to do. Never again am I going to face those ungrateful people who gave me such pain. How could they not realize I was just as scared as they were, or even more? Christina's the boss, I'm the mother, Lisa's the moose, Amy's the hyper one, Lauren's the sweet one, and Dani's always helps me out. And the boys, how could they? But the ones that hurt me the most were my parents. My dad literally disowned me! I'm the third Cimorelli kid! And my mom didn't say anything to stop my dad. They'll miss me and come crawling back, they always do.

Lisa's POV

I grabbed Nick and Joey once I knew it was going to get heated. Poor Katherine. I know she just heard wrong or something. My little brothers were crying. I pulled them close. Katherine walked out and saw us, her eyes blood shot and her shirt all wet, her cheeks stained with tears. She slowly trudged over and I gave her the biggest hug ever. I didn't care if her makeup was runny, I didn't care that it was 11:00 p.m. and night. I'm going to be there for Kath, no matter what.

"What happened?" I asked.

"They-they kicked me out! I have to walk home and grab everything, then leave!" she answered, her lips trembling. They did not do that! What the heck is wrong with them? Whatever happens, I'm going with Kath. Nick and Joey are too. I'm not letting them go back to those lunatics.

"Don't worry. We're going to do exactly what they want. All four of us. Together." I assured her. Then she lifted Nick, I lifted Joey, and we carried them and walked straight home.
