A Meeting with Mari

It's been a lovely Sunday morning so far; I got up, had some homemade waffles, and now I'm watching some YouTube. I hadn't really immersed myself in the whole YouTube community until I found out that my cousin works on a channel called Smosh Games. It's really cool to watch, and that made me get into all of YouTube a lot more. So I finished up the newest Game Bang episode and then decided to go for a walk. 

I was walking down the street, and it was about 3:00- the hour for the best California weather. I didn't really have a certain path, I was just walking around my neighborhood. Since I didn't have a 'Point B', I was kind of just wandering aimlessly and thinking about anything. After awhile, I realized that I had been following someone without thinking. The girl had longish purple hair that was shaved on one side. That hair was a little familiar. The young woman walked with grace, the grace of a dancer. No way was it...

Without second-guessing myself, I ran up to the woman and tapped her on the shoulder. When she turned around and saw me, her hands flew to her mouth.

"(Y/N)?" It was my cousin!

"Mari!" I yelled. We screamed a little more and hugged again. 

"How have you been?" I asked her.

"Pretty good, and yourself?"

"Great! I never thought I would run into you here, though... It's crazy that I found you." I responded.

"Wait, when did you move to California?" She asked me.

"Maybe 2 years ago, around that time." We exclaimed over the fact that we had never seen each other before today. I was still following Mari, so we ended up walking to her apartment complex. She invited me to come and catch up with her at her house, and I happily agreed. Once we got settled in, we continued our conversation.

"Oh my gosh," I exclaimed. "I love Smosh Games."

"Really?" She asked incredulously.

"Yes!" I said. "Once I found out that that's where you worked, I wanted to support you by watching everything. I knew you guys were based around here before, but I guess it never even occurred to me once I moved to California."

Mari smiled genuinely. "I'm really glad you like SG so much." We discussed our favorite games, our favorite episodes, and many of the Game Bangs that I loved so much.

"Is it hard being the only girl?" I had always wanted to know.

"Not always, but sometimes it does get to me..." She sat thinking for a second.

"OH MY GOSH!" Mari yelled, startling me.

"Geez, what?" I asked

"What if you come and accompany me to a day at SGHQ? I wouldn't be the only girl, and it would be awesome to have you meet everyone."

"Wait." I asked. "Are you being serious? That would be amazing. Will everyone be okay with it?"

"Yeah, it'll be fine. Then it's settled!" She said happily. "You're coming to HQ tomorrow." We sat, talking excitedly and planning everything for tomorrow.

"Hey, (Y/N)."

"Yeah?" 

"Do you have a boyfriend?" Mari asked. I must have looked taken aback, because she laughed.

"No..." I answered. "I've never had a boyfriend before. Not a legitimate relationship, anyway."

"Oh, geez." She giggled. "Good luck interacting with these guys, because they will be all over you."

"What?" I cried. "No, they won't. I'm not anything special."

"Of course you are!" Mari said. "You are really pretty, and you have a lot of talent. So, I'm just saying, watch out for the guys."

I giggled, "Except for Lasercorn." Mari joined in my laughter.

"Yeah, he is a proud papa of Babycorn, so you should be okay with him." We talked more about tomorrow, but it was late, so I decided to head home. Mari and I exchanged numbers, and promised to keep in touch. I left her house calling,

"I'll see you tomorrow at 9:00, Mari?"

"9:00, sharp." She replied, laughing. I walked back some quickly, the events of tomorrow perpetually on my mind. Before I knew it, I had reached home. I need to get some sleep for tomorrow, so I lucked out with her house being so close to mine. It's going to be one heck of a day!
