I slowly opened the creaky door, hoping that it wasn't causing too much noise. I quickly closed the door to make a little noise as possible. It slammed with a loud noise. Cursing in my mind, I took a seat on the chair in the porch. I closed my eyes and rested myself on the rocking chair swaying myself back and forth at a steady pace.

SCRATCH. SCRATCH. Meow~ SCRATCH. SCRATCH. Meow~

I stopped my tracks and slowly opened my eyes, anticipating for something to came at me. It was just a mere cat probably sneaking around in the bushes somewhere. I waited and looked around. It was going to jump up at me. Might as well just wait and be prepared when it comes out at me.

"Meemers!" a male voice came out suddenly. In the moonlight, I was able to see a cat, patterned as a cow. It was primarily white splotched in black spots. A boy about my age ran into the yard and knelt to the cat.

"Did you notice by any chance that I was there?" I spoke. He turned to me and did a little jump in fright. I chuckled in amusement. "I'll take that as a 'no' then," I smiled. He returned the gesture and stood up as the cat was enveloped in his arms. His bored, follow eyes gazed at the small creature. His milky skin shined under the moonlight. His long, slender fingers caressed the animal's fur. He turned to me with an apologetic smile.

"I'm so sorry to disturb you. My name's Mark, and I'm the new neighbor next door. May I have your name?" he asked. I nodded and smiled.

"It's Kyuri, and you weren't disturbing me. I hope we can be good friends!" I smiled. He agreed and told me that he had to go. We waved each other goodbye. Then over time, a few hello's and bye's turned into a few sentences. Then, a few sentences turned into larger conversations. It was to the point that we were inseparable. Basically joined to the hip. People say that if you're best friends with the opposite sex, you'll fall in love with each other. It's not true. We both agreed to not date each other, and we planned to keep it that way. That was until something happened.

Mark fell down the stairs one day and hit his head. The damage done to his brain was so bad that he got temporary amnesia. When I came to visit him at the hospital, he didn't know who I was. He remember his parents, his friends, EVERYONE, but me. I came home that day with a heavy heart.

Maybe that the fact that we were best friends was a mistake. Maybe it wasn't meant to be.

I woke up in the middle of a summer night, and I felt so tempted to go outside. I heard a small meow making me stop my tracks. I walked over to my window to see if anything was outside. I saw the familiar spotted cat in the gleam of the moonlight. A boy with grown out hair ran in to retrieve his cat. He stood up and didn't move. Then, he shrugged and left. I sadly smiled to myself.

I guess you'll never remember me. For I am the forgotten one.
