Essence Kenzie
Holding a sleeping Trevor, I walk up to my Parents house and knock on the door. It's seven in the morning and this is where I drop him off so he can go to preschool and wait till I get off work. I knocked on the door again and seconds later I heard my dads voice.
"Who is it?" He yells.
"Me daddy." I say rocking Trevor against my chest. Then the door opened. He stood in his pajamas with a tired smile on his face.
"Come on in, baby girl. You can put him in his room." I nodded and made my way upstairs. Walking past my moms room I seen her still in bed so I moved quietly. Opening Trevor's door I walked over to his bed and laid him down. I took his book bag off my shoulders and sat it on the floor next to his bed. I walked over to him sprawled across the bed and tried to removed his jacket but, he moved around restlessly trying to get comfortable.
"Wait baby, let me get your jacket off. " I whisper. Pulling it completely off, I then removed his shoes and slid him under the covers. Once he was situated, I stared down at him as he slept peacefully and snoring lightly. I lightly glided my fingers over his forehead then his cheeks.
I bent down and kissed his forehead. Before I could turn around Trevor spoke. "Mommy?" His voice croaked out, turning to face me. The sun beamed in his face creating a glint in his big brown eyes.
"Yes?" I say lowly, getting on my knees to be leveled eye to eye. His eyes roamed my face and his eyebrows furrowed and his lips began to quiver. In panic, I cupped his face,
"Oh my God–what's wrong baby?–talk to mommy." I say anxiously, rubbing the tears that began to form in his eyes. His breathing hitched.
"D-Don't leave m-mama, stay with me." He whimpers on the verge of full blow tears, wrapping his arms around my neck tightly.
"I have to leave Trev-"
"No! Mommy don't leave me l-like daddy." He cried as his tears flowed onto my blouse. Noo baby.
This is what I didn't want to happen. I feel so guilty for doing this to him. I never knew it would get this far. I-I only want the best for him, you know. I'm trying do whats best for him. And me leaving his father is the best, because he doesn't deserve to see us argue and hurt. It's not right. My eyes began to burn as I felt the tears flow into the brim of my eyes. I stood up with his arms still around my neck and hugged him tight to assure him that it'll be okay. I didn't want to leave but I had to.
"Daddy didn't leave you baby. Okay? Do you hear me?" I say sternly lifting his head so he can see and understand what I'm saying, "Daddy loves you very, very much. Do you understand me?" I say. I wipe the tears gliding down his plump cheeks and kissing the bridge of his nose. He nodded,
"I love daddy too." He confesses staring into my eyes.
I nod. "I know baby. I know."
A few seconds went by as I cleaned his face up. "Why you cry mommy, you not 'posse to cry." He claims. He took a arm from around my neck and wiped my tears off my face as well. I chuckled smiling, and kissed his forehead. I tilted mines to his and shook my head.
"Oh god, what would I do without you?" I say smiling, he put a small smirk on his face and shrugged. I put him back down in the bed and kissed him one last time. "Now be a big boy for mommy, okay? I'll get you later. Promise." I assure putting my pinky out. He smiled and hooked his pinky with mine.
"Okay mommy, promise." Then we kissed our pinkies to seal the deal. I smiled at him and couldn't do nothing but be grateful for my son. He was my grind and if anything was to ever happen to my son I would die. His head turned towards the door,
"Good morning, granny!" He says excitedly. I turned my head and smiled, "good morning mama." She smiled, a warm smile and walked over to the bed .
"Good morning, my babies." She says pecking my forehead. I stood up,
"I should get going, see you guys later, I love you." I say walking to the door and looking back at him.
"I love you too." He said and with that I left out the room and said bye to my dad and made my way to work.

After parking my car in the buildings parking lot, I hopped out of my car and made my way into the main building. All you heard was the sound of my heels hitting the pavement as I entered the building. I walked to the nearest elevator and got on with many other people.
"Um can you hit number 13 please." I said to this man. He reached over and pressed the number. We all stood there waiting for our stops and when mine came I got off and walked down the strip that was lined up with desk areas where others work. I went up to the receptionist for the floor to see how everything was going. On each floor there was one receptionist and three Auditors. I was one as you can see.
"Hey Joanne." I say sweetly. She looked up at me from her glasses and a smiled. Joanne was Ethiopian and Trinidadian. She was drop dead gorgeous. If I was her I wouldn't be here, I'd be on a magazine or something.
"Hey there girl , how's your morning so far?" She questions, sliding the papers she had over to the side and looking up at me. Leaning against her desk I signed.
"So far... It's been good--okay, I guess. I'm just tired. " I confess. She looked a bit concerned.
"Well I hope these make you feel better." She says, reaching under the desk and pulling out a carton of three cupcakes and handing them to me. I grinned uncontrollably, if it was one way to my heart it was food.
"Oh my god, Joanne! Thank you so much!" She smiled pleasingly.
"Your welcome. My daughter made them, and I thought I'd bring you some. Since you've been seeming so stressed around here lately." She said. I reached over her desk and gave her a hug. " I also wanted to know if you'd like to go out this weekend with me and my sister." She offered.
"Of course girl! But I gotta see if I can because I haven't been spending much time with Trevor. " I confess. She nodded her head.
"Okay, just let me know." She said. I responded with a okay and made my way to my office. When I got there someone was in my office. Raising a eyebrow I opened the door.
