Essence Kenzie

It's been two weeks since Michael been in the hospital in his coma. I've been going day by day with a clouded mind, cluttered with thoughts of, What ifs and Maybes. I've been so caught up in my thoughts that I've been slipping up on work. I'm sitting here at the plain black desk with nothing on it, but a desktop computer, telephone and a hell of a lot of paper work I needed to finish before Monday morning and today is Wednesday, so I have plenty of time. But I can't lie I am stressed. They still want me to pay for his hospital bills since I am his wife, and the bills is causing me to work extra hours. Leaving me to spend less time with Trevor and its overwhelming.

I need a day or something. This is to much, I thought. I grabbed the yellow envelope and opened it and examined the numbers and if this accurate to be established to be sent to the board. I know of you are probably wondering what the hell does the trick do!? Well what I do is work in the accountant department of JARV Banking Enterprises. I'm what you call a 'Auditor'. I gather appropriate and sufficient evidence and observes, tests, compares and confirms until gaining reasonable assurance. I then form an opinion of whether the financial statements are free of material misstatement, whether due to fraud or error.

I know, sounds fucking boring and believe me ... it is. I like to think of my job as what Mr. Incredible was doing before he choked up his boss. Because, it's very similar to it. But I'm just here to get money, anyway.

There was a knock on my door and my eyes swiftly broke from the paper. Raising a eyebrow wonder who could this be.

"Yes?" I say loudly, waiting for a response. The knob began to twist and a girls face popped in. She had a bob and she had blossom brown skin and big almond shaped eyes. She looked put together like she had all her marbles; looked as if she was going a interview. "Umm, yes?-- who are you?" I asked, furrowing my eyebrows in confusion. She quickly plastered a apologetic smile on her face and swiftly slipped in and closing the door behind her. I looked at her like she lost her damn mind, as if she had two heads. She took a deep breathe and held her hand out for a hand shake,

"Hello, my name is Chloe Maddison and I wanted to know are you Essence Kenzie ?" I looked at her hand hesitating to shake it.

"Yes, I am. What are you doing here? or who wants to know exactly ?"

"Do you mind?" She ask pointing towards the chair in front of me. I shook my head 'no' and she sat down sitting her purse in her lap. "Okay, I'm here to see if you could finalized my business I'm trying to build." She says pursing her lips together.

I signed. "Okay listen Miss..." I couldn't remember her name.

          "Chloe--"

"Right, listen. I legally can't finalize a business. It's goes against policy, I can only look it over to see if it's eligible to be finalized. Sorry. " I apologize. The smile she once had on her face vanished and she looked as if she failed.

"Is there anything you can do? Please.. Anything. I've been to too many places that can't help me and your my last resort. Please Mrs.Kenzie. I'll take anything. " She pleaded desperately. I looked at her and looked like she had potential but I was skeptical.

"How old are you ? And what is your occupation?" I asked trying to see what I can do. She smiled as a glint appeared in her eyes.

"I'm twenty four and a hair stylist. I'm trying to open up my own shop and get started on my dream. I've always wanted to build my own foundation and I'm coming to you for help. I'm not asking for a hand out but I'm simply asking for a opportunity." She says sincerely. I bite my lip. If I help her I could be putting my job on the line, my income on the line, my son on the line.
