Locked Away

Chapter 9

After leading me along for ten minutes, he took me to McDonald's for lunch. I never really had it before since my parents didn't want me to eat too much fast food as a kid.

Gray led me inside and we looked at the menu above.

"Got an idea of what you want?" He asked me.

"Uh...no...not really..." I replied. "You pick for me."

"Alright I will then." He said then laughed.

"Hello, welcome to McDonald's. What would you like to eat?" The lady behind the counter asked.

"Two artisan grilled chickens." Gray replied.

"Anything to drink with that?"

"Two Pepsi's."

"Alright that will be $7.49."

I went to grab money out of my bag for it but Gray beat me to pay yet again.

"I'm paying next time whether you like it or not." I said to Gray.

"Whatever you want to believe Chloe..." All I want to do is tell him my real name but it is too late now...

Once we got our order we sat down at one of the tables outside. He wanted to eat inside, but I insisted we eat outside. After spending 10 years inside all you really want to do is be out.

I ate the food he ordered for me and I gotta say it is pretty good. Since it tastes good, I am assuming it isn't healthy at all, but I don't care at all.

"Hey Gray?" I said after I finished my food.

"Yes?" He replied.

"Why are you being so nice to me? Why are you doing this all for me?" I asked him, wanting to know why so badly.

"When I saw you in that alley, I knew that I would want you in my life." Gray said. "It feels right being here with you..." He said that quietly, most likely to himself.

"But I don't deserve anything you've done for me. You are way too kind and you should use that on others instead of me."

"You do deserve it whether you believe it or not."

I stayed quiet after that and watched the cars drive by. It felt relaxing to sit outside. Fresh air, sounds of nature, sounds of cars, people, etc...

"Chloe?" I heard Gray said, breaking me out of the trance I was in.

"Hmm?"

"Are you ready for the next thing we shall do today?" I looked him in the eyes and smiled.

"Why yes, I am." I said. The fact that he wants to be with me makes me feel wanted again. Feel needed, like I matter. Adam took my self worth away from me, and I feel Gray giving it back. Everything I felt was falling into place once more.

"So I thought that we could go back to my house and hang out. That is only if you want to..."

"That sounds great. I'm in!" I said excitedly. I haven't been inside a real house in so long, it gets me excited.

He laughed at my enthusiasm. "Alright, let's be on our way there then."

He stood up and started walking on the sidewalk to the right, after throwing our trash out. I followed shortly behind for about 15 minutes and we reached his house.

The house was big and white with two floors. There was a small staircase leading up to the front door. The front yard had a small garden lining the house. There was a cheery blossom tree to the right, currently in full bloom.

"Your house is beautiful wow." I said, admiring it.

He grinned at me. "C'mon inside with me." He grabbed my arm and dragged me.to the front door. He unlocked the door and we went in. It looks so much larger inside than out.

Gray led me to his living room and we sat down on the couch. He turned in the TV.

"Wanna watch a movie on Netflix?" He asked me. I'm sorry what is Netflix?? I guess I will just go along with it...

"Sure."

He opened up Netflix and then looked at me.

"What movie would you like to watch?" What movies even exist tho??

"You pick." I said.

He proceeded to put on 50 First Dates. Gray grabbed a blanket and put it over us and started it. I felt the urge to rest my head on his shoulder, but I was scared to move any closer to him. But then he moved his arm around my waist and moved me into him more. I got myself comfortable next to him as the movie was about to start. I felt so at peace. For the first time in so long.

I'm starting to get back into the groove of writing again so this story shall be updated once more.
