The hot wind blew, followed by a wave of the branches of the trees. The ray of the sun stung people's skin, also could drain the energy and dehydration couldn't be avoided. Some people had lost their mind and seemed like they're having fun by destroying someone's stall. The owner was just an old man who could do nothing but watching them in fear. After they're done, they left with a loud laugh of satisfaction. Not long after that, a scream came out from the other side of the street. A group of people gathered in front of a tall building, looking up to the top of the building in puzzled. There was someone who committed suicide by jumping from the top. He shouted something, then shot his own head with a gun in his hand and fell down to the ground. Most of the people around the corpse were just staring at it in silence and did nothing, while some people were trying to evacuate the corpse. Someone with big brown cap and an old robe with blue hair under the cap was standing on the opposite of that incident. He's shocked about what's just happened and even couldn't move. His eyes widen and his heart throbbed fast.
"So.... Some...... One......." He gasped and stepped back a little.
Then a hand covered his eyes and pushed him to lean on someone's chest. He startled, grabbing the hand and tried to uncover his eyes. He struggled but couldn't release his voice due to panic; even his cap fell down. This kind of situation was horrifying him the most. This brought back his terrible memory about some people who almost killed him back then.
"No....... No........ Please.........." His voice was so vague.
"Sshhh......" A hush tickled his ear, "don't panic.... Just relax......"
He knew this voice, then tried to calm himself. After he calmed down a bit, the hand removed and he saw the red haired guy who saved him from dying. A tear flew from his eyes, but before he could wipe it, the red guy placed back the cap, pulling his hand and brought him to the nearest café.
"Want some chocolate milk, Nagisa-kun?" Said Karma, let Nagisa sat down on the sofa-in the corner of the café, near the window.
Nagisa nodded lightly without seeing at Karma. His body's still trembling and his heart's racing up. His tears flew and he wiped them repeatedly.
"Sorry to make you cry...." Karma took a seat across Nagisa, "I was too rough__"
"No...." Nagisa said; shook his head, "it's ok.... You just tried to help me to calm down...."
"About that suicide......" Karma sighed, "don't you know that this city has special circumstances?" He leaned.
Nagisa looked at Karma in confusion. Before Karma continued, the waitress came and put some glasses and a plate of cakes on the table. Nagisa looked at her and he realized something.
"Green....." He muttered.
As the waitress left, Nagisa threw his sight to Karma who was playing with the straw in the glass-of juice-in front of him. Suddenly, they're startled by a sound of glass broken, followed by a cry of a girl. There's a woman, not far from their seat, who was standing with a scary face, wet skirt and the waitress groveled before her. The broken glass and plates were on the floor near her with the waste food. The woman was mad and even kicked the waitress with her heels. No one helped her, but not long after that someone came and apologized to the woman then brought the waitress inside.
"She's done for......." Karma said coldly.
"What do you mean?" Nagisa confused.
"You realized it, didn't you?" Karma pointed at his neck, "the chocker..."
Nagisa didn't give a respond. No need to wait for Karma's explanations, he knew something about it. He gulped as Karma started to say something.
"People with chockers on their neck are slaves...."
"Slave??" Nagisa's eyes widen.
"Yup, and..... Those with chockers, do not deserve to be helped or saved...... Even the government won't do anything if they're killed, raped or robbed..."
"But.... Isn't that inhumane?" Nagisa worried.
Karma closed his eyes briefly, "no.... For us....."
Nagisa looked at the window beside him and saw there were many people with chockers who were passing by. Some of them were pale and skinny, and some couldn't even standing because of the bruises on their legs.
"Say.... Nagisa-kun.... Let's change the topic...." Karma grinned then put a big paper bag on the table.
Nagisa startled at first, but then a sweat flew on his face as he chilled by Karma's smile.
