A/N: this is gonna be a big one. I just thought this one up: imagine Mae finds out she's pregnant, tells Gibbs, and he proposes.

*Mae's POV*

Three positive pregnancy tests. Three. I was surprised, but not as surprised as Jethro would be. I was up late, worry gnawing at my stomach. It didn't help that my hormones were starting to get wacky. I had thrown up twice already in the few hours since I've known, partially out of nervousness.

I felt my stomach start turning again, and I ran to the bathroom, slamming the door. I would have preferred having something in my stomach, but at that point I was glad that nothing came up.

*Gibbs' POV*

I heard a door slam from the basement. Something was up with Mae. Third time I've heard throwing up. I placed the wood plane on the work bench and went upstairs to see what was wrong.

"Mae, honey?" I knocked, which was met with sobbing. I tentatively opened the door and saw my woman curled up on the floor, leaning against the tub, tears streaming down her cheeks. I instantly went on high alert.

I made my way to where Mae was, and pulled her to me after checking for cuts on her wrists. She sometimes cut when she got too stressed out from work, or if her anxiety got too much for her to handle. They were never deep enough for her to end up in the hospital, though. She was clean.

"What's wrong?"

*Mae's POV*

"I don't want you to leave me, Jethro," I cried, gripping his shirt tightly.

"Mae, what's gotten you so upset? I've never seen you like this before, and it's scaring the hell out of me."

I sniffled, getting the tears under control. We looked into each other's eyes for a moment, stood, and walked to the counter. Jethro followed, and finally saw the pregnancy tests. Picking them up, he studied them. He was dead silent as he checked each of them twice, three times.

"Mae, this is great news. Is that why..."

"Why I've been throwing up? Yes, it is, Jethro. Because I'm nervous, and anxious about what you were going to say, and what you're going to say, and-and-"

He shut me up with a kiss, pulling me close. Still holding me, he started talking. "Mae. Since Shannon and Kelly died, I've had three failed marriages, because I ended up pushing them away. I let work stand before the relationships. I've always wanted kids again. I've wanted a steady relationship. I've wanted someone who would stick around, even with how difficult people say I can be. You've been all that, and more. So much more. You've stayed. And I think I'd like to be with you for the rest of my life."

"Jethro, what are you talking about?" I was confused. I got another quick kiss. He pulled me into the kitchen, and that's when I realized the team was there. McGee, DiNozzo, Ziva, Ducky, Palmer, Abby. Even Jen was there.

"Here ya go, boss," DiNozzo said, handing him what looked like a ring box. I went wide eyed, covering my mouth when I realized what he was going to do. The tears started again.

"Mae, marry me? You know I'm not one for too many words, but I love you." I nodded, not trusting my words. He stood, murmuring, "give me your left hand."

I looked at the the simple ring, a garnet with tiny diamonds around it, and diamonds the same size going about halfway down the gold band on both sides of the centerpiece.

"Jen helped pick it out," Jethro said sheepishly, rubbing the back of his neck as everyone gave me a hug.

"Jethro, it's perfect. Thank you for helping him pick it out, Director," I laughed, and walked into his welcome embrace.
