You were just hanging in your room. You spent your birthday mostly alone, and Dean didn't seem to understand. You had a twin brother when you were little. On your guys' birthday one year, he was diagnosed with cancer. He died exactly one year later. Your birthday, was literally the worst day of your life. You spent most of the day crying, being depressed, and overall just being sad. You had dragged out some old photos of you two, and even recounted the stories to yourself. You heard a loud CRASH! coming from the kitchen. You raced to see what monster it could be, gun drawn. You turned the corner. The kitchen was a mess! Dean sat at the centre of it, and looked at you wide-eyed.
"Um, SURPRISE!" He tried. Your tear stained cheeks pulled into a slight, but confused smile. You lowered the gun, putting it back in it's place.
"What are you doing?" You asked your boyfriend. He was coated in flour, and the oven was on. Food was splattered around the kitchen. He had pie filling on his nose, it looked like apple.
"I tried to make you a birthday dinner. It didn't turn out so well..." You laughed, for the first time that day, and walked up to him. You licked the pie filling off his nose. You were right, it was Apple.
"How did all of this happen?" You motioned around the kitchen.
"That angel bestie of your kept getting on my nerves. There was a food fight." He admitted. Gabriel popped in.
"Which I crushed him at!" Gabriel laughed, and Dean shot him a glare.
"Aren't you supposed to be busy?" He asked Gabriel, obviously ticked.
"Oh, oops." Gabriel popped out, and you laughed.
"I appreciate this Dean, I really do, but my birthday isn't-"
"Yeah I know," He cut you off, "But you deserve at least one positive birthday memory. I know what happened. But do you think RJ would want to see you like this? You told me his favorite thing was seeing you smile. So grant his birthday wish, okay?" You smiled sadly. Dean was trying, and you couldn't help but love him for it. You eventually gave in. He was always less stoic when it was just you two, and it was really sweet. You kissed him lightly. Then the oven went off. He pulled back.
"You go with Gabriel, I'll be right back." He promised. You exited the kitchen, and followed Gabriel. He helped you select your favorite movie, movie snack, and even blanket for a movie night later. Dean called for you to come to eat. You entered the kitchen, and saw how much work he truly put into it. (Your favorite food) sat in the center of the table, along with an apple pie. The study looked like a dining room, complete with candles for a candle lit dinner. There was a small (favorite colour) velvet box in front of your seat. He pulled out your chair, and scooted you into the table. He served you, then sat to eat himself. After dinner (and desert), he allowed you to open the box.
It was a necklace. It was a thin chain with a small locket-type charm. The locket was designed with your birthstone, and you expected pictures of you and Dean when you opened it. That made finding a picture of you on one side, and your brother on the other, all the more heart-lurching. You were nearly in tears. There was a note in the box that you had missed, but Gabriel eventually pointed out.
In loving memory of Ryan Joe Alwin and with Love to y/n Alwin. ~YOUR SECOND LOVE, Dean Winchester.
You smiled as tears streamed down your face.
"I love it." You said, eyes gleaming with love and tears, as you looked up at a smiling Dean.
