She loved the feel of the sand under her feet. It was always so warm and mended around her. Night would be approaching soon, and her father was grumbling about being too close to a pride. When she went to ask her dad to visit the pride, he refused profoundly.
"Why can't we go visit the pride?" Hinata pouted, digging her feet into the sand. Her father looked back at her, his expression void. She huffed, puffing her chest out to show her mane.
"I'm an adult now, I can handle myself." She huffed. Her dad stared at her, analyzing. They had a stare down. Her father turned and walked up to her, looming. She held her head high, refusing to back down.
"What if the leader of the pride wishes you to mate with him?" His loom suddenly got worst. It was like he towered over her now.
She blanched. Mate… Her? She knew that there was usually one male, and many females to tend to the male, but…. No lion would want to mate her, being the way she was. "That would be highly…. Unlikely." She refused to take a step back, despite her fathers loom. Her father always skillfully avoided the prides, but being so close to one made her want to see it.
"What if they try to feast on you, Hinata?" She growled at his tone. He was treating her like a kit again.
"You trained me well, I know how to handle myself." She said, lowering her gaze. Her father was the strongest person she ever met. Even the other animals would take about his glory days when he faced everything and anything. He even took on a full pride before.
That's right. She was his daughter. She had nothing to fear. She was trained by the strongest. She may have a puny human body, but she had the pride of a lion.
She was a lion. A small growl built in her throat as she barred her claws to her dad.
Suddenly, his loom was no longer so bad. "There you go, Hinata." He started shuffling in another direction, toward the pride. Her jaw dropped slightly, before her heart jumped.
She was finally going to meet a pride!
But… Why was her father so intent on her showing her animalistic side?
There was no way… She turned that human yet. She only met them once after all.
