Severn, Maryland:
Bowie State UniversityToni dropped off Evan at Tara's house, and she and Ken went into their chemistry class. Professor Howard looked very fragile and sick. He was Ken and Toni's favorite teacher, because of his generosity.
"Class, it's with deep regret to inform you that after working here at Bowie for fifteen years, I'm leaving due to my health. I have stage four pancreatic cancer and it's terminal. I will be okay, God has me." Professor Howard saw tears in Toni's eyes. She was his absolute favorite student, and he felt devastated. Toni ran out of the classroom and Ken ran after her.
"Toni, he will be okay. You have to have faith and believe he's going to pull through. I understand you're hurting but he will be okay." Ken said while kissing Toni's forehead.
"Kenny, I had him for almost four years. That's one of the best teachers I've ever had in my years, here at Bowie. He was one of my reasons of attending here, other than me father being an alumni here, he was my chemistry teacher in high school. I want him to be okay." Toni cried in Ken's chest. He wiped her tears away and kissed her lips, softly yet passionate.
"I love you." Ken said. She looked into his eyes and hugged him. She felt super secure in his arms and she felt loved.
"I love you more." Toni said back. They walked in the class together, hand in hand and paid attention. Two hours later, it was time to leave. Toni and Kenny said their goodbyes to their professor, and they went to pick up Evan from Tara's house.
"Hi, mommy's baby!" Toni cooed. Evan smiled and kissed her nose. Toni laughed and placed a kissed on his tiny nose. Ken came in and saw the interaction between Toni and Evan. He jumped in the bed and had a make out sessions with Toni.
"What was that for?" Toni asked while biting her bottom lip. He winked and kissed her again, this time with full force.
"For being an amazing mother and girlfriend. I want to give you something. Here you go." Ken said. He handed over a white box that was labeled Pandora, on the inside.
"Oh my goodness, Ken. This is so beautiful, what is this for?" Toni asked with glossy eyes. He kissed her before his explanation.
"It's a promise ring. I love you and Evan and I promise to be the best significant other out there. After we graduate, we'll be as one. Be a family of four, or five. I promise that we'll succeed together and be each other's happiness. Thank you for pushing me to strive better and I thank you for be you. I know my parents and little sister would've loved and worshipped the ground you walked on, but God had other plans. My final promise to you, is to never leave you alone; to guide and mold you and bring you back in better shape than God created you in. I love you Toni, always and forever." Ken smiled. Toni was in full blown tears and kissed him.
"Ken, I thank you being my heart and for allowing me to love again. It's been one hell of ride so far, with all the chaos in my life, but I'm glad that you chose me to be your girlfriend. I am blessed to be yours and I'm blessed that Evan has a father like you. I pray that no matter what dilemmas we face, we'll love more and harder." Toni smiled. He kissed her jawline, and she blushed.
"Daddy." Evan smiled. Ken looked at him and started to tickle his round belly. She loves when Evan calls him "daddy", and the love Ken has for Evan is overwhelming.
6:45pm:
Toni and Evan were cuddling, meanwhile Ken was in the kitchen preparing dinner, when he received a phone call from an unknown woman, and number.
"Hello, is this Kenneth Edmonds?" A woman asked.
"Yes, this is he. Who am I speaking with?" Ken asked with a confused look on his face.
"This is Lisa Howard, my father was your Chemistry professor, at Bowie. I wanted to give you the news of my father's passing. He peacefully died in his sleep at home, an hour ago. He left a note saying that he is proud of you and another student by the name of Toni Braxton, wishing you nothing but the best. Our family has requested for you to read his obituary. His funeral arrangements are set, and his funeral service is going to be held next week at St. Agnes Baptist Church, on Wednesday, 10am. I thank you for being an easy student with my father, both of you two. I shall be contacting Toni now. Goodbye." Lisa explained. Tears streamed down Ken's face.
"I would be honored to read it the obituary, but I'll tell her myself. I thank you for having a wonderful father and teacher. Thank you and I'm sorry for your loss." Ken said. He heard footsteps and he wiped his face.
"What's wrong with you? What happened?" Toni asked while rubbing her eye.
"That was Professor Howard's daughter, Lisa. He passed away." Ken said while leaning on the counter. Toni placed her hand over her heart, and slowly started to shed tears.
"Oh my God, Ken. He's gone." Toni cried in his chest. She was slowly collapsing on the ground where Ken placed a kiss on her head.
"It's okay, baby. Let it out, everything happens for a reason. You gotta be strong for me, because I know I'll be an emotional wreck at the funeral. We'll get through this, together. I promise you, okay?" Ken said. He placed a kissed on her forehead and she felt a tad bit better.
"Okay. I love you, Ken." Toni said while wiping her tears.
"I love you more, Tone." Ken said while hugging her.
Next part will be a little bit emotional, because it's the funeral service, in the next part, and it's going to be a little detailed in the obituary. Comment & vote. It would be greatly appreciated! xo
