Take Me

Part Twelve.

Severn, Maryland:
Toni & Kenneth's House:

Today was Evan's 2nd birthday, and it was a small gathering at Toni and Kenneth's house. Rita, David, and Tara were invited to celebrate the occasion.

"Happy birthday, baby boy." Toni said while great excitement. She began to tear up, knowing Evan was growing up, but he's still the only child. Evan smiled and his mother kissed his forehead.

"Let's get you some food. You hungry?" Toni asked. Evan nodded his head and smiled. Toni took Evan downstairs into the kitchen, to get rice and chicken.

"Happy birthday, son." Ken said while taking Evan from Toni. He threw Evan in the air and he began to smile, then laugh. Toni smiled at the interaction between Evan and Ken.

"We're here!" Rita said with her arms wide open. She approached Evan and he yelled.

"Hi, nephew." Rita said while kissing Evan's cheek. David hugged Toni and dapped up Ken.

"Where do you want the gift at?" David asked. He was carrying a huge sliver box with a green bow on top.

"You can place it outside, on the table." Ken said leading him to the backyard. Evan followed the boys, meanwhile Toni and Rita had their girl talk.

"Girl, how's Ken treating you?" Rita asked while sipping her water.

"He's treating me like a princess, like he's seriously a dream come true. Every time I see him, my heart just skips a beat. He waits until I wake up to say 'good morning' to me, and he treats Evan as if that's his child. I cannot wait until we get married and break down to have a child, because Lord knows I love me some him." Toni smiled while looking at Kenny talk to David.

"You're really happy, T. It's like every time you're around Ken, you have this grin on your face when he talks. When he sits next you, it's like you're in a completely different world. I hope and pray that David and I will be like you guys." Rita said while rubbing her stomach.

"Black love is the best. How's my goddaughter treating you?" Toni asked.

"She hates me— kicks me nonstop, makes me nauseous and sick. I gained nine pounds and I've been eating everything in my damn fridge. My boobs are ridiculous, can't wait for her to come." Rita said.

"I'm so glad you said that, because I didn't want to say anything rude. But my goddaughter is going to be beautiful when she arrives." Toni laughed. Ken came in the house to get the girls.

"Babe, time to come outside." Ken smiled. Toni helped Rita out of her seat and they went outside, to see Evan smiling. It was time for the cutting of the cake.

"On three! One. Two. Three. Happy birthday to you, happy birthday to you, happy birthday dear Evan, happy birthday to you." Everyone sang. Evan smiled and clapped his tiny hands together. He blew his two candles from his birthday cake.

"Evan, mommy loves you so much. I thank God for choosing me to be your mom. Everyday you show me patience, love, joy and most of all happiness. I love you, baby boy." Toni said.

"Son, it's your birthday and I adore you. I pray that you become a man of God, who cares for people as much as I do. Thank you for allowing me to be your father. Love you son." Ken said.

Everyone enjoyed their slice of ice cream cake.
