Chapter 13: Favor

"Oh yeah, but now that you know about Ashley... Could we crash at your place for a little while?" Kyle asked.

"Oh yeah! Totally! I live alone- cause I'm so mature- and my birthday is in like....a week. So yeah." Wren said. Curling his fingers around me.

I shied away from them, but he still ended up touching me. Now his fingertips were brushing up against me, like a curious cat.

"Hey Ashley, do you want anything to eat?" Wren asked, "You look a little cute-I mean hungry." He corrected.

Kyle grunted, pretending to laugh.

"Um sure..." I trailed. I suddenly looked at Kyle, "Oh hey Kyle! Can I eat those Cheeto's?!" I shouted excitedly.

He smiled, "Yeah sure, let me just get the bag from the car." He said, leaving.

When he was out the door, Wren suddenly started petting me. Messing up my hair. I froze, not wanting to be disrespectful.

"Ya know, You're like a tiny goddess." Wren admitted.

I widened my eyes, this guy was being a little creepy.

Kyle returned, with my bag of Cheetos-yes!- and opened them.

He set them down on the counter, and gently scooped me out of Wrens hand. Setting me down next to the bag, I instantly lunged for a Cheeto.

I heard Kyle laugh as I started nibbling on one of the cheesy chips.(or whatever they're called)

"Here, Kyle let me show you the options of where you can sleep." Wren said, leading Kyle away.

So I continued eating for a while, until I heard a noise coming from behind the candles.

"Psst!"

I looked in that direction. I saw what looked like a cat peeking out from the candle.

I cocked my head in confusion, a cat? If that is a cat it is a very tiny cat, because it looks to be about my size.

"Hey!"

And it could talk.

I squinted my eyes, focusing on what the talking cat looked like.

Actually it looked more like a tiny girl... A tiny cat-girl...

Wait what?

A tiny... Is she a borrower? Like, one of those tiny people that take things from humans?

Am I really talking to a borrower?

"Come here! It's dangerous to be exposed!" She waved.

I hesitantly stood up and jogged towards her, still holding the Cheeto.

"Who are you?" I asked.

I eyed her cat ears, they looked so real. I couldn't believe that I was talking to a borrower.

"I'm Nina." She introduced, "And don't you know it's dangerous to be out there where everyone can see you. Especially if there's two humans in the house?" She scolded

I honestly didn't know what to say. I just stood there, observing her cattish features.

"Get down!" She yelled, grabbing my arm and pulling me behind the candle.

I studied how her ears flicked one way and then the other. Her eyes like a cats. Focused on the task at hand. She crouched down, sneaking behind the candle.

"So uh...yeah. Those are the options...you can sleep anywhere in those places." I heard Wren say.

"Ok thanks- uh...hey Ash?" I peered around the corner, Kyle was looking around confusedly.

"Ashley where did you go?"Wren helped.

I began to walk around the candle but I was grabbed back again, making me Yelp.

"What are you doing are you trying to get killed?!" Nina whispered.

Suddenly the candle was lifted into the air, exposing me and Nina.

And that cat-girl could run, she bolted the other way before I could say anything.

"What the-?" Wren said. Before Kyle easily stopped her with his hand.

I heard her whimper.

"WHOAH WHOAH WHOAH! Put her down!" I shouted, pointing to the ground demandingly, the two boys instantly focused their attention on me instead of the tiny cat girl in Kyle's hand.

"What?"

"But she's-" Wren started.

"I said put 'er down." I stated.

Kyle did. But Wren took one look at her and picked her up.

"Ohhhhh! You are just the cutest thing!" He said, Petting her.

She looked a little tense at first, then she gave into the soothing sense of being petted.

"Awwww~<3" Kyle said.

I sighed, "You guys... Need to learn how to be gentle giants."

(And they are all acquaintances.)
