I got out of the hospital and spent the rest of the week bed ridden with Aaron constantly by my side, maybe he was staying with me because he thinks I'll have Clio here again.
"What's for dinner?" He came sat next to me with menus from various food chains.
"Can't you cook man? I want a cooked meal." I moaned.
"Want a barbecue? I'll go get meat?" He gestured.
"Yes. Here take my card yea" he got up taking my wallet and headed out.
I kept my ear listening out for his car to roar off, as soon as he was gone I was calling Clio.
The phone rang but no one answered, damn it. I tried again but nothing.
"Why are you ringing me?"
"Fuck me! Holy shit" I jumped out of bed, nearly breaking my ribs. "Clio how the fuck!" I was speechless.
"I needed to make sure you're okay, I heard Aaron leave. How's your ribs?" She bent down in front of me kissing my rib area, her soft lips connecting with my skin.
"Clio" I breathlessly spoke. "You said you wanted to be apart" I brushed her hair out of her face so I could see her perfectly.
"Doesn't mean I don't want you. I want you in every way there is to want a person Zak." She looked up at me with her big beautiful eyes, they were saying more than her mouth at the moment.
"Aaron will be back soon." I swallowed hard and looked away, apart of me knew the risks I was taking for her. She was a psycho, she some how got into my house and waited for Aaron to leave. I didn't know what to do, it was all confusing.
"As in we need to hurry up or you want me to hurry up and leave. Zak I'm not here to hurt you." She held my hands and pulled herself up.
"Clio how did you get in the property, how did you get in my house? Are you fucking nuts?"
"I need to be careful. You refuse to let me in then I refuse to see you anymore." I limped my way to my front door and held it open for her, I wish she knew how much this was killing me. To see her walk away.
"I get it." She shook her head and bowed down, I knew I hurt her.
"Clio-"
"No Zak. I get it." She shook it off and walked out with her head up high.
"Are you innocent?" I stopped her before she walked over the threshold, she rolled her eyes and glared at me.
"There's always a wild side to an innocent face." She smirked at me and left, leaving me with a million questions in my head.
As she disappeared into the dark night I heard Aaron pull in, that man has perfect timing.
"You waiting for me bro?" He pulled out the groceries.
"Hurry up! I'm hungry" I laughed at him while he wailed the bags around.
He unloaded everything on the table and started to prep for dinner.
"Do you know Clio?" I sat on the stool and folded my arms.
He scoffed. "No."
"You're pretty quick to judge her then, believing the stories about her. Are they even true?"
He struggled to answer me.
"One more time Aaron, do you know Clio?"
He threw the meat across the bench. "What's your obsession with her!" He was furious not as furious as me who realises I have dead animal sprawled over my kitchen bench.
"Aaron!" I snarled.
"I just know she is bad! You can see the shit she has done by looking at her! The night at the bar... Oh."
"The bar!" I hissed. "She left cause of you! She wasn't there with friends!"
"Yes okay! I knew her a long time ago, she was with the man that was murdered. The one she murdered, he was an old friend. I know what she is capable of."
"Aaron. Do you know the real story?"
He sighed. "No. I just know of her history." He looked guilty.
"She has done shit, she is a mess. A mess of gorgeous chaos and you can see it in her eyes." I looked up at him, he couldn't bare to look at me. "Aaron I like her." My voice started to crackle.
"I'm sorry. I fucked up, I'm under a lot of pressure dude. I don't think I recovered good from the previous lockdowns, I need cleansing." He broke down on the floor.
Many people wouldn't totally understand what these lockdowns do on our body, the amount of pressure that Aaron gets and yes it's majority form me it fuck us up bad. Instead of yelling at him I needed to be there for him, I sat beside him and comforted him.
I was going to be here for him, like I need him there for me when it comes to Clio. I was going to everything I can to help Aaron.
"Let's book you a cleansing session." I patted his back and he broke down again.
"Really?" He brought his face out of his arms, he wiped his nose on his collar. "Thanks bro."
I got up and grabbed my phone, I dialled the number for the cleansing people.
"Zak, Clio is innocent."
I ended the phone call and turned sharply at Aaron.
"Say that again" I was confused, I was shocked. I knew I was right.
